I have a disease. Since I was born I've been obsessed with big stuff. As a kid I had to have everything bigger than everybody else...didn't have to be better...just bigger.
Childhood Example:
When I was younger, all the kids were skateboarding. It looked fun and a lot like my favorite past time, surfing. I grabbed a friend and ran to my garage, took my brothers skateboards, one of our old surfboards, a bunch of tape, and a power hungry appetite.
At the end of the day we walked into the park with the giant contraption balanced on our heads to meet our friends. I hopped on and barreled down the parking lot (Which was VERY steep), then realized there was no way to turn it. Crashed into a curb and broke my arm, but had no regrets....well maybe just a little.
Now I'm a 19 year old entrepreneur who still is taking risks building BIG things and attempting to live a BIG life. I'm not egotistical at all...it's just a part of me.
It's time for me to take a big step and purchase my first car on my own. I'm making a solid income now, so no more relying on mom and dad's hand-me downs...the question is: what do I buy?
I obviously want something big and roomy...but gas prices these days are outrageous...as a young entrepreneur I'm trying to save every dime I can. Maybe I could get an SUV normal in size, but have the suspension raised a bit and get some bigger wheels put on? I'm just basically looking for something tall and beefy.
An example of beefy would be those five-seater escalades... doesn't look like a thin sheet of plastic.
Here are some footnotes for those who don't feel like reading:
-I'm naturally into big things
-$20k to $30k used or new
-Can be raised up without looking completely stupid
-Needs some power (yes, I will be offroading off and on)
-Has to have reasonable gas mileage (10mpg isn't cutting it)
Appreciate any help/suggestions greatly!
Look forward to posting on these forums often.
