I had just got done racing (not really a fair word for what I did to him) some riced out 240sx, and I was getting off the freeway coming around a curved off ramp.

I get off the exit, and there's a canal next to the freeway...what did I see...a car in the canal and a guy with no shirt on wrapped in a blanket shivering and wet. Oh no...it's a BMW.

I slowed down...it's an M5!!! Ahhhh noooo. Another one bites the dust :( Wonder what that dumbass was doing to put an M5 in a canal.

Damn :)

At least it wasn't salt water ;)

Lots of BMW's sleeping with the fishies lately.

Unless you have a yellow 240sx, with yellow tints, a big aluminum wing, gobs of stickers, and 13" rims with wheel spacers...no, it wasn't you. If it was...lol you should probably leave this board.

Glowrider

I'm willing to bet it's less than 20

I'd say more than 20, theres quite a few here and generally at least 5 on dealer lots at any given time.

5 on dealer lots? I'm having a REAL hard time believing that. 2003 allocations are running real slim, since this is the end of the first quarter this year marks the end of the E39 M5. Plus the fact that dealers don't just order up a batch of M5's...they are special order cars. Customers come and order them, and get them made the way they want, then the dealership places the order with BMW, as with all M cars.

I live in NY, and I don't see that many, I see an average of two a month. I saw a couple down in FL this past summer.

Even when there's big M meetings and get togethers, the number of M5's showing up is very slim. M car owners, especially the M5 owners, are an extremely tight knit community. I know there's alot of them in Massachusettes.

heh i usually see one a day (and no, they're not 540i sport package ones)

the ones on the dealers lots are used

I'm willing to bet more than a few of those are fake.

Yeah, when the weather's nice I see an M5 just about everday, and I'm 100% sure they're not fake.

M5's aren't that rare dude, the E39's have been in production for a looong time.

that's not to say that they're not nice by any stretch of the imagination! they just aren't rare, M3's aren't rare either.

Hmm. M5's are rare cars. Not as rare as higher-end exotics, but in that price range, I see those alot less of them than anything that costs about the same.

I guess Calgary is alot more upscale than I anticipated. I know M3's aren't even CLOSE to rare.

M3/M5's I see them all the time......
A 323I with a Rieger Kit, now that is rare! I think I'm the only one in the province of Alberta!

Anyway, where do you see these M5's Bol? I've only seen like 2-3, EVER! But I see M3's on a fairly regular basis

I usually see one EVERY time I go downtown, and it's a different one too!

Usually I see a grey or red one daily...

I don't think I've seen an M3 ever. Maybe I have but only recently did I become aware of what brands are what (say little over a year ago) etc.

Of the things you don't see, I see lots of mercedes wagons, BWM wagons. :P And the occational lancer evo VI.. and..and.. no imprezas nearly.. and.. the occational ferrari (boring). In fact, I guess this place is pretty ridden of exotic cars. The climate doesn't favour them much.

Then we must not forget Peugeot, Renault, Skoda, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Opel, Rover, Ford Europe (lots of cool well handling sporty cars - far better handling than any north american honda sold now), all the more uncommon or unattainable variants of common cars, such as Civic 5 door HB, all corollas are hatchbacks or wagons, and what else.
