Spotted: Evo 8!

this evo was spotted next to the liquor store in the country hills superstore...since there are only a handfull in Canada, i thought a picture would only be prudent ;)

No kidding, not everyone can have their camera with them at all times.
Also, its been harped on NUMEROUS times about posting pics in spotted threads, so IMO he did the best with what he had albeit a camera phone!

this car looked amazing in person, he had the rear badging shaved (some of it at least) so i'm guessing he had the spoiler replaced aswell. good job on the posting shariq.

its probably a RS with a added wing... why would someone get a RS for a daily....no ac, no trunk, no nothing

Nope, there was only one trim level for the ones that got legally imported.

it's an rs. basically a car made for track use, just look how short the trunk is, that clues its a rs since rs doesnt have a trunk

Like I said, if it was legal, it cannot be an RS. All Evo 8 in Canada are 2003 models. The RS was not available in 2003.
The RS came out in 2004 as did the MR.

He may have simple changed the trunk. A lot of STi guys do it, so why not Evo guys?

No EVO stance, no EVO front mesh, who removes an EVO wing with CF on it to stick on the base level EVO wing??...and I know you can't really tell from the angle...

But I dont really notice an FMIC does anyone else??

I am sure I saw this car in traffic in my rear view, and I don't think it has a FMIC... I don't think its an Evo. I think it still has the tiny Lancer Ralliart muffler too.

this is not an EVO.. you can tell by the headlights.. I would be even more clearer if we could see the tail lights as well. Simply a pre 2004 lancer with a kit, hood and painted calipers

May not be an EVO but it looks nifty. Mabye the guy is going to "EVOSIZE" his Lancer up. But I agree on the spoiler. They must go for a lot of money eh?

First of all, lancers don't have projectors.

Secondly, to Evolutionize a Lancer, you would have to get new hood, bumper, headlights and fenders (kinda like a JDM integra swap).

Unless he painted his calipers red, those look like 4 piston Brembos to me. The wheels look very much like the Enkei forged wheels that Evos come with.

Real EVO8. I got a ride in this one on the weekend. Unfortunately, the owner only learned how to drive 3 weeks ago, so basically he started from a stop in 2nd gear at a few intersections, never went over 4000rpm, and maybe hit 1psi of boost.

Suspension felt pretty comfortable, more comfy than the STi. No clue how good/bad performance is. The interior is WAY cheaper than the STi.

I've seen that car parked outside the country hills Superstore before and it is a real EVO but not an RS. It even has a rear wiper. I believe in 2003 at least that you had a choice in spoilers so the standard ralliart spoiler was available in EVO's. All you have to do is take a look at the gauge cluster. Only EVO's have the red on black instrumentation & recaro seats.

it is a real EVO, i was checking it out in person once. it does have the evo interior, FMIC, and a greddy exhaust anong with very nice brakes. also i renember it being in the trader a while ago for sale in manitoba for 30k range, i guess someone in calgary bought it and got it here. very nice car, i would get that real EVO spoiler back on that thing tho

Its my bros friends car. The fmic would give it away if you see it in person. Also the seats and brembo brakes. I would think it is hard to impersonate an evo because of all the things that make the evo an evo.

His website is www.vertigosport.com took me for a spin a few weeks back. 100% real fo sure. :D If you go to the bottom of the page there is a link for evo8. He has some pictures, he wanted the lower spoiler because this is his daily driver and didn't see the need for the high wing, and he didn't like the styling.
