There is this jerk I know who has a Toyota "Teabag edition" HiLux and apparently he imported it himself. Given his mental abilities it shouldn't be too complex.

:werd: I know someone who just imported a Hilux. He contacted the seller directly in Japan and they worked out shippin and other details.

I'm looking for a turbo 22r pickup....I know they made it to North America, but they're hard as well to find. Are there any sites you guys know of where you could browse through used cars? Keep in mind that I can't read Japanese, so something with english would be nice. Most searches just leave me with some pictures and a lot of info that I can't do anything with.

Import Concern brings them in. Recently a Surf was delieved to a customer, I like it, looks kool, not very fast, but it would be a amazing, winter truck, or even a weekend offroader, Cheap on gas. And it was in really good shape and i dont believe they are very expensive.

whats the big deal about jdm trucks you can do the same to a hilux that you can do to a 4runner/someone said 22re turbo do an engine swap and put in a 7mge/7mgte simple swap 22re parts are killer priced

^^^ They're in better shape. Most of the Toyotas of this vintage (late 80's) are pushing 300,000KM locally and are pretty much rotted out. If you can find one for a reasonable price with 100,000KM and a solid body it's a pretty good deal.

The Turbo 22RE would just be a fun truck to drive. Saves the hassle of swapping in a supra motor.

The 22RTE and the 7MGTE are 2 totally different engines. I wouldn't compare the two performance wise.

The stock 22RTE wasn't all that great. It was a temporary fix until the V6 became available.

I've had my Hilux for about a year and it's been great. They don't call them hill finders for nothing.

hey dude,

i imported a hilux surf 2LT (2.4L turbo diesel). importconcern brought it over for me.... csot roughly the same as here but way better condition.... But to be honest, make sure you know what your getting into it is a real bitch to find parts like seriously when i go into charlesglen toyota i can already see them shaking their heads.... but due to the increase in popularity it is becoming easier to find parts... if you want one already landed their is a dude in armstrong B.C who brings them over fixes everything and sells them registered and saftied in B.C plus he will make buying parts pretty easy but i went through importconcern.ca and i have no complaints the motor doesn't haul ass but it does the trick and i get like 550km to a 40-45$ tank of diesel
