and sdram is pretty rare since its older so it would prolly cost you more like 80 bucks to buy new

Try vfxweb (http://vfxweb.com). Locally run calgary buisness which has some older computer parts moderately priced. I'd figure you'd be able to get a stick of 256 for under 50 bucks.
