will anything happen if you start a car without a tranny. to be exact it is a 89 mustang 5.0l.....some ppl where saying the engine will move around alot and the fan might hit the rad?

has anyone tried this?

if the rest of the motor mounts are in and tight I don't see any issues. BUT...I have never worked on a 5.0 so I am not aware the clearance that might or might not be avalable in the transmission tunnel.

What I would worry about is maybe how the starter mounts. Does it mount the the block to make contact with the flywheel/flexplate, or on the tranny??...if it's the tranny then you might not have a place to mount the starter...

Uhm...yeah.... the trans prevents the mtor from tilting on the mounts back and forth....

so, yeah... starting it like that is bad if you do not do something about that.

the engine will tilt side to side ( fender to fender) not bumper to rear......right?
