so i have a HP pavilion 7840 with all my mp3's, bookmarked websites, e-mail, AND MY RESUME.

the on switch decided to crap out so the damn thing doesn't turn on now. it still clicks and everything, but the computer won't turn on.

in order to get a job, i REALLY need my resume. i should have had it on disk, but i don't.

so is there any way i can get the damn thing to turn on? idea's would be helpful.

i say you open the case, and push the wires in, probly loose from the switch, If that doesnt work you might need a pro to fix it

if it is just the switch, then all u need to do is manually push the wires together. if that doesnt fix it, then its something else.

i know it sounds stupid, but recheck all your connections and make sure there are no loose powercords and try a different outlet too.

if none of these work, just swap a power supply from another computer and give that a try

Power supply is like 100-200 bucks to replace, and takes 3 hours tops.
It will be fixed quickly.

If that's the case, you might as well go to computer rack and get like a new case that comes with a power supply for $30. Not a really amazing looking case, but if it is your power supply that's the problem, this would be the cheapest way to get it running again.

Might only be the power supply fuse. you have not lost all your data though by the sounds of it:thumbsup:

Most cases run around $100 and they look pretty nice too - if you're ready to change the look of your computer. If you are desperate and need something to get you by, just grab a used case and swap supplies

The power supply is quite cheap, but the labour (espiecally paying someone 80+ dollars an hour) kills you!

TurboDSM would do it for a decent price

Just take out the damn HD and put it in the computer that you are using now. Then you will be able to get all your stuff and can worry about Pavillion later.

LOL, I did that same thing in about 5 minutes. I'm not going to say I was extremely careful when doing it, but then again I wasn't throwing it around either.

When you are getting paid by the hour, you tend to take your time. Wouldn't you? Also they have lots of other computers to work on, so they can't do it right away. My service was covered by a warranty, so I just took it to the shop. :D

If your going to bring it in dont bring it into compusmart. There terrible their i had a friend bring in his comp for a graphics card and a few other things and it took em a month 2 do it. Then it crapped out again anyways... compucentre in marketmall is ur best bet for service i believe.
