Can anybody recommend a good 5-channel amp and what I should look for when buying one. I want to run front separates, rear 6X9 and a sub.

I'm afraid you don't have much selection. You should run 2 amps if you want that setup. Alpine makes a decent 5 channel but your sub will still likely be underpowered.

it's gonna depend on how much you wanna spend, what kind of budget do you have?, and what brands are you running to know the power they'll need.

you would probably be better off, depending on what you wanted to do, by going with a 4ch amp and running your rears off the deck. Your rears, since your using them shouldn't get that much power, you don't want the music to sound like it's coming from behind you.

Alpine made a D class 5 channel amp a ways back. I used it in competition. Very clean, and the Sub channel is NOT underpowered. They were like $1500, If u can find one, buy it.
I still have mine in the closet, I don't want to get rid of it cuz they've never made another one since.
MRD-F752 is the model #.

5 channels usually aren't worth the money, for the power you get. You are better off with a four channel, and a sub amp. You will have more to choose from, and likely get the two amps for the same price as the one 5 channel.

Check with chris at audioconcepts. I'm sure audison makes 5 channel amps. Good power, great sound quality.

I think it's a better option to get a solid 4 Channel amplifier and then get a D-Class amplifier for your subwoofer. You can split the power wire with a D-Block and also split the remote wire. It's not that much more work that hooking up one amp and it'll let you decide how much power you want to put to your sub. 5 Channel Amp's are a bit tough to come by and you're going to pay top dollar for a good one.
