Does anyone know how to get into a 89 Civic without the key? I woke up this morning to find my keys locked in my car. If anyone could p.m me so I could do it myself that would help too. Thanks

Joseph

I would call the CAA and pay them to be safe.

cloth hanger!

for a 89 civic .. it is a 30 second job ...

Or ..

If you know some friend with similiar car ... for Honda, especially in the 80's .. they didn't make many different keys .. so, someone with a similiar car, his key may be able to open your door!

Could you p.m. me on how to use the cloth hanger? I've never done it before and I might try it if my friend's key doesn't work.

It's pretty easy to get into most cars, but it will take some time so I hope this car is actually yours ;)

Ghetto way: You will need a thin screwdriver with a cloth. Cover the screwdriver with a cloth so that it does not scratch your paint, and force it in between your door and door jam. This will create a small space for you to insert a hanger in there. Stick the hanger into the space between your door and your car until you can see it inside of your vehicle.

Bend and shape a thin metal rod (coat hanger) so that you can guide it in there. Shape the end of the hanger into a hook and try and catch the lock so you can pull it into the open position. It may take a few tries and you will probably get a few looks but you shouldn't have a problem if it is your car.

Any locksmith is gong to charge an arm and a leg today or tomorrow to come out (weekends). Usually, its around 30-40.

Better yet, find a friend with an AMA card. As long as he/she is with you, they will come out and unlock your car in about 10 seconds for free.

My buddy has a 1990 civic and what he does is took a thin metal thing (he used half of a scissor) and slit it between the window and door right above the lock and found a place that would "give" and he pushed down and it unlocked. If the locks are different then go with what WeaponR said, very good advice

Shouldn't the instruction be send in Private (i.e. PM)...No offense, but who knows what kind of people might find this information useful.

Old hondas? Swiss Army knife should work in the key. just insert some tool thats long and metal, and twist like a key! You would be surprised how often it works.

I got in my 94 civic so many times. Used a ruler, works really well.

Now go to Crappy Tire (or anywhere with a key-cutting machine), and get them to cut you a spare. Keep it on you.
