I don't really think bike alarms do any good, it's just too easy to throw a bike in the back of a van.
The best theft deterrent I've seen is to chain the friggin thing to a solid object with a massive chain.. but even then it'll probably get stolen. A hidden ignition kill switch would be #2.

features:

-single zone radar (sets alarm off if anyone gets within 6" to 1' of the bike.
-tilt switch so if the bike is tilted up right it sets the alarm off
-and possible ignition disable add-on.

I can also get alarm systems for bikes in less then 24hrs for about $60.00. It works the same way however it does not have a zone feature. This installation is a piece of cake. Two wires are all that is necessary. They actually work against theft. During the night when someone is going to walk it away. Loud enough to make them put it back down and take off. I know because I have one and I caught two guys running away one summer night when I was watching T.V. in the living room.:guns:

if you want something like that, just hook up a siren , with one side constant power and the otherside with a mercury switch to ground, the siren will sound everytime the bike is tilted upright. put a little hidden swich to turn it off.
