Saw these posted for an unbelivebly LOW price...and wondered.

Are these tires:
1)LOUD
2)Ride quality, Good or Bad
3)Treadwear, Good or BAD
4)Wet weather driving, Good or BAD

Pls let me know, as Ive never ridden on a set, but Im leaning towards them because they are cheap, and the tread pattern looks good.

Thanks

I have a set that came with my rims..

tires seem to be pretty good.

not loud at all, ride quality is good
treadwear is very good. just rotated after 10,000km this summer and barely made a dent.

in the wet they are well behaved.

good overall tire for the price.

I got 20" Nexens and so far nothing to complain about, I even have hardcore camber because of my air ride, and the tread wear is still awsome.

3)Treadwear, Good or BAD - seems to be pretty good thus far
4)Wet weather driving, Good or BAD - Decent in the rain too. Equal to the Kumho 712's I had.

Bought them for a cheap tire to last me the summer before I use the rims they're on for winter tires. Happy with the results.

Yeah I got em too'... 17's in 40series.. Mine came with a bit of wear on the inner side of one and a bit of the second tire.. But back on my car now and they are level again and not wearing really.. Not noisy... And I've been in a few heavy rains and haven't had them skip around on me, but I also was cautious as I'm new to these low pros.. Over all I didn't know what to expect because I had never heard of them, and I used to also work for michelin, but these things have proven to me they are worth their low price, so far...

these are the 3000's I'm talking about, they are even a good looking tire, with a sporty tread to em':

I was talking to guy who's using them on his G35 6mt. He said that he has no complains... he's been using the car on highways... when it was raining, no problems as well....

For R18s they cost around $175 a piece compared to Michelin PSport for $495.... but that being said, I know Michelin has way better rating... no doubt!! But I think I can always choose or cheaper tires as I just use the car 95% on city driving...

We are one of the largest distributors of nexen rubber here at contemporary and you have to take the nexen tires for what they are. are they a good, affordable harder compound tire?? yes, they are. but dont buy nexens expecting a crazy super sticky drag radial like some people do. we sell so many nexen tires here and have had very few complaints for the ammount of tires that we sell. for me, this is one of the few tires that you get more than what you pay for, youll get a good z-rated tire that will keep you happy for quite a while for a price that is uncomparable to most z rated tire prices. so if you spend alot of time crusing around the city and do a little performance driving every once and a while and dont have huge baller pockets, nexen tires are perfect.

Theyre cheap tires that they now sell at Walmart, how could do you think they can be?

Id use them for drifting , thats about it.

I have them as well and i've used a lot of diff tires and drive in a lot of diff raod conditions, for the money they can't be beat. I've put on proably 20000km in the past couple monthes and you wounldn't know it looking at my tires, and even at high speeds (150-180)where i'm usually cruiseing their fine.

Are they the best out there? No, not by any means. But for the price they offer really good value. They're not loud, have good tread life, and o.k. in the corners (read, not the best), but for the price and every day driving, they are good.

I'm in the market for some tires now and I don't do any track racing, just looking for some tires that are good for DD with a bit of umph Now, I can get some All-seasons Nexen N2000 for $400 Mounted and installed w/ warranty. The shop said it will last 90,000kms without track abuse, anyone have any experience or knowledge with these tires? I don't drive hard, sometimes I just take corners hard and want the car to stay on the ground, with my current tires they wobble. lol

Nexen N2000 = $400 Mounted and Installed @ some shop
Nexen N5000 = $74.95 each tire w/out installation @ Wal-Mart

Am I getting a good deal for this?

PS: My current all-seasons have about 80-90% tread left but they suck (Wynstar something). Is it better to get new tires on stock suspensions or use the current tires w/ Eibach springs + KYB AGX shocks combo? Tires will come to $400 mounted and installed and the spring+shock combo will come to $600 installed.

i had the N2000's on my 240 during the past 2 winters (ya 'sport' tires for winter tires i'm cheap), they held their own quite well. in dry weather they are also ok, minus the 55 sidewall and roll, i'd say they are good for the price 'performance all seasons' minus the performance part :D

i got em cheap 2 years ago so i'm happy with the amount of usage i got out of them.

I guess walmart sounds like the best place to get these.

Anyone know what the major difference is between the N2000 and N3000?

i think the 3000 are z-rated. i had them on my Lancer, they were pretty good, no complaints.

Nexen N3000's are awsome i do burnouts all the time and they still grip winter summer spring and fall, they likedont wanna wear out.. my lancer's got 340 bhp andddd i still haven't gone through my first set yet

Yeah, Nexens are the best. You know they're good because they're so cheap. The cheaper the tire, the better it performs.

I put a thread in just before last winter - to which I got shunned of course.

I'd say my opinion matches the general consensus. The N3000 is a decent performance tire with excellent treadwear, and it's decently quiet. I found handling to be reasonably good as well. They did a good job of resisting hydroplaning too.

However, if you're looking for excellent traction, then go with something else - there are much better options out there. The problem is that they cost 3 times as much. For the price, these tires are tough to beat. But for all-out performance, you can do better if you have the wallet for it.

whats the rule of thumbs with them? the higher the series number the better the tire is?

Kloubek
06-12-2008, 11:30 AM
The 3000 is the most performance-oriented version they have. 2000 is less so. If you're looking to get performance version, then go for the N3000. Just keep in mind it's horrible in the winter.

06-12-2008, 11:32 AM
I had a set of N3000's, they are hard as hell and will last forever. But the grip is very lacking, if you want a set of tires that will last forever these are them. They work well in the rain but don't expect them to handle at all. The side walls are quite soft as well so on the low profile you risk damage to the rim.

This man speaks the truth. 75 series is better than say...45 series tires. The best are 90 series tires, but those can be tough to find. You have to go to a real performance shop if you want 90 series tires.

It's not like traction is actually an important trait for tires anyway...as long as they are made of rubber and wrap around the wheels, that should be good enough for any discerning auto enthusiast.

I'm running a set of Nexen N3000's on my daily driver. I can't say i have any handling issues since i'm stuck in rush hour bumper to bumper traffic majority of time time. Wet/Dry traction is fine. I can't complain since they work fine for that purpose, however i would never use these tires for any sort of performance related driving.
