STUTTGART, Germany — Following its first appearance at the Geneva auto show earlier this year, the production-ready Maybach 57S will debut at the Frankfurt auto show, company sources say.
The Maybach 57S is distinguished from the standard 5.5-liter V12-powered 57 by an upgraded 6.0-liter V12 power plant. This will boost the output from 543 horsepower to 612 hp, which is even higher than the company originally anticipated in Geneva.
The 57S also improves over its sister model with an even smoother suspension and other extras such as a monochromatic color scheme, updated radiators and lighting, and new 20-inch wheels.
The Maybach 57S is scheduled to go on sale in the U.S. in the spring of 2006, priced around $360,000
