I know this has been asked many times in the past. So…I’ll ask again: Do any of you guys know what kind of rims these are and which retailer in Calgary sells them? Also an approximation on the cost of them would also be nice. Thanks.

Thanks guys. I went on the net and searched for Motegi MR-7 and got this picture. Yeah, I think there the same, as far as I can tell. How much would they cost in 16’s or 17’s with rubber?

Check out Canadian Tire. They sell them, but I'm not sure how cheap.

Yes they are gunmetel and you would have to ask him.

I think you can get them for like $250-300 a rim, but I am just estimating, based on other Motegi price I have seen for their rims.

i was lookin at mr7s last week i think they wanted $220/rim at canadian tire...supersc has 16's on this board and got them from 1010tires.com (a distributor in vancouver)

he got them for $1300 with rubber, now your probably looking at about $1500 shipped to your door for 17's

Yah it wouldn't be super expensive for those rims at all.

But those things are HEAVY! Look awesome but heavier than hell

i think there are also many other brands which make rims VERY similar to that one. Sorry can't help you though. Best bet would be to visit a few shops, they will show you what they have, what they can get, and how much.

Thanks, superesc for the reply!

I realize that they weigh approx. 20lbs/wheel. As far as normal city driving is concerned: How much of a performance loss am I looking at if I were to put on 16’s on my Teg?

Thanks guys for the help so far, decisions, decisions, decision. I think it’s ultimately harder to choose the right rim than selecting a car. LOL :banghead:

I thought they looked like Racing Hart Evolution S7's. They maybe a little out of the desired price range though.

For buying a set of rims, if the price difference is not astounding (including shipping and handling) I'd suggest buying from a store.

You feel more security IMO. If the rims come damaged or start peeling or anything (even if its unlikely) I'll bet it'll be easier getting something done through tunerworks, than hassle with sending them back and what-not.

What do you figure Tunerworks is going to do if your rim becomes damaged? Do you think they'll give you a new one?

i jsut mean if there is a shipping mishap, if its damaged during shipping to the shop. I don't mean if you go and curb it.

Then, depending on how it is shipped, either they or the shipping company will pay for damages and reshipping and you get a new rim or rims. Not really a big deal. If the items are damaged or missing or incorrect in anyway the package won't even leave the recieving dock, so really there isn't any more hassle then going down to a local shop where if the wheels are not in stock there is still, albeit small, chance of a damaged/imcomplete/incorrect order waiting for you.

Also keep in mind that the price on the sticker is not the price you have to pay, i'm sure tunerworks would be willing to at least match 1010's advertised price.

Yeah, I think I'll follow 5.9 R/T's opinion and check to see if Tunerworks can match 1010tires price quote. If so, I'd think I'll feel more comfortable purchasing then from a retailer in Calgary. Still it might be some hassle but, probably not as such.

I saw a set of 17" tantrums back a few weeks ago for $500 w/rubber. Pretty sure they're sold now, plus they're the wrong bolt pattern for you. I almost bought them as winter rims.

I have a set of 18" tantrums that cost $1000 for the rims and another $1100 for rubber.....

actually i've ordered about 6 sets of wheels from Tunerworks now and one set came with the wrong bolt pattern, they immediately shipped me back a new one and the other wheel, the racing hart center cap screw holes were stripped, they fixed it right away . . .

so as long as the damage is incurred on their side, I'm sure they will be happy to fix the wheel or at least help you out with the solution
