Thought I would ask a question here instead of making a new thread:.
I've got Shaw/Rogers. The modem is in the basement and getting ok wifi down there but not great upstairs.
I've got a bundle of blue ethernet cable in the basement:
Attachment 114957
Multiple rooms have wall jacks that have the blue ethernet cable plugged in. However, I'm not sure which cable end goes to which room.
Shaw tech was talking about how I need a mesh system to help with the wifi upstairs. Said best thing was to plug all the cables into a box, then plug the box into the back of the shaw modem. That would energize all the rooms with the ethernet jacks. Then, plug in the wireless mesh units into 1 or 2 rooms upstairs.
I know nothing about this stuff. Reading this thread, it sounds like I can just buy the TP Link Gigabit Ethernet Switch that was referenced further up? Then plug that switch into the back of the modem?
THen, what Mesh system do I buy? I do have a 6 year old Apple AIrport Extreme (earlier in the thread, someone suggested that could be a way to make this work as well?) but I was hoping to get coverage in various parts of upstairs including one broadcasting into the backyard area if possible.
Any input?
Thanks
