Is Famous Chinese Restaurant still run by the same crazy Chinese couple?
The Trough
Grizzly Paw Brewery & Pub.
Mmmmmmmm Rutting Elk Red
If you are an overweight, early-40s soccer mom who likes 20 year old downtempo and recipes from Epicurious, then you'd like Crazyweed. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.
Iron Goat
The Market Bistro in Three Sisters. Not really in town but it's such an awesome place, chat with the chef through your dinner etc. They have an attached liquor store so you can go in there and pick your wine and pay a very nominal corkage for your dinner.
If in town I say Gauchos. :dunno:
Grizzly Paw is super overrated and expensive. You can drink their beers anywhere in town. Find myself disappointed most times I bother waiting to get in.
Oh also Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. only issue there is way too many kids (family friendly).
I need to go to Canmore sometime soon...

I liked gaucho. But then, we have one in Cowtown.
Sorry for the slight hijack but I am staying at Stoney Nakoda Casino and Resort for a couple of nights in mid December. I am there on a sun and mon night so not buffet nights. Has anyone eaten in their restaurant or pub? Prices are cheap but I'm wondering if the food is decent or if we should make the drive to Canmore instead.
I'm also not a fan of the grizzled paws food.
Usually I go to the iron goat
yes absolutely. been here many times this year already. Although one time was not as good as the other times... still had a great time though!Quote:
Steak place at silver tip gold course. Amazballs
For breakfast we usually go to Rocky Mountain Bagel Co. or for something quick at lunch/mid-afternoon snack.
For a casual (and healthy) Lunch, try Communitea Cafe We both had soup of the day and chose different hot sandwiches. I would go back again for sure, good coffee too.
I liked Trough, been there a few times but its not really anything you can't find somewhere else, Crazy Weed was disappointing when we were there in April. Had Beef rib Rendang (was overcooked and under seasoned), Wife had a pan fried white fish (maybe Bass?) in a Thai curry sauce and we shared fried sweet breads. We both left feeling underwhelmed and it was expensive for what we got.
I know it isn't Canmore but if you are willing to drive to Banff for dinner, we went to Block Kitchen and Bar in September. Very small spot (probly seats less than 30 people) but the food was amazing and price point was reasonable. Service however was sub-par, but we sat at the bar so could be different at a table.
Heard good things about Iron Goat but haven't tried it, Market Bistro sounds like a fun spot too.
If its supposed to be more of a date night/romantic meal, I would skip Gaucho. I enjoy meat buffet as much as the next guy but having Brazilian BBQ and leaving with the meat sweats will not put sexy thoughts in your girls head.
Gotta at least try Le Belle Patate (not sure if you're looking for fancy or what)..split one for lunch!
