**** UPDATE ****
MEETING LOCATION:
We meet at the mcdonalds/wendys etc. accross the street from COP on 16Ave / Highway 1A on the way out of the city at 7:30PM Friday the 12th. We'll head out together as a group from here.
When: Friday August 12 - Depart Calgary. Return, Sunday August 14.
At this location, the first 2 weeks of August have been +30's consistently the past few years. Great weather!
Where: Lakeshore Resort & Campground. Windemere lake B.C.
Cost: 2 tents per site, not sure how many cars, $20/site. I can book the whole valley area and we can all park securely and do whatever we want, it'll be uber cheap still.
Driving Time: approx 3hours
About the drive:
It's AWESOME. Highway 93is my favorite highway - even after driving to California. Great straightaways, awesome turns, low traffic flow, not often cops.
Directions:
West on Highway 1.
After ~ 1.5hours or 150km Turn left on Highway 93 exit.
After you pass Radium Hot springs area, you'll come to a stop sign by a Husky.
Turn left onto 93 & 95. Follow this road for another half hour or so.
You'll come up to a "Shop Easy" and go carts/minigolf on the right.. LOOK AT YOUR ODOMETER!
10km from here almost exactly, you'll see a brown sign on the right for Lakeshore resort.
You go down a tiwsty (but safe) gravel road towards the water, you'll see an office and the shower stall.
** I will update what campsite we have, most likely on the right past the big field in the valley **
Don't buy a park pass at Banff. Stay to the right of the gates and drive straight through.
After we get to the ramp to turn onto highway 3, on the right hand side there is a rest stop with a garbage bin, let's stop there for a bit and re-group. The rest of the drive is amazing, great views, great roads.
What you should bring:
Coolers, Money, Ice, Lawn Chairs, LIQUOR, Food, Portable BBQ w/ Propane, paper plates, cups, cutlery etc. Sun tan lotion, Sunglasses, Swim Suit, Towels, Personal Hygene stuff, Bug Spray(Off Skintastic is Best!), different shoes, Rain Coat (just in case), Tent (Lude_grl has a 14person tent to share), Sleeping Bag, Pillow, Mattress/Foamie, Foot Ball, Soccer Ball, Golf Clubs etc.
