I'm going to go with the X. Hopefully there is a good trade-in promo for the One X.
Definitely getting an X as soon as I can preorder. Would be nice if they could do an elite bundle with a new elite controller, my current elite is getting a bit worn out unfortunately.
I'm conflicted. I game so little these days, but have also never not had a console. Hard to justify, but I still want the X
I'll get an X move my one x for office cod. Such a drought of games but will continue to play R6/COD/F1 etc on the new one with improved performance.
Only thing with the S is 512gb, that seems like too small with 200gb cod.
Need to get my elite 2 fixed though, not happy of the quality for that price. If you buy make sure to get the warranty.
I don’t game nearly as much as I used to. But it’s still by a large margin the cheapest form of entertainment I have aside from mainly Netflix (which I watch on my Xbox). And graphics matter to me so X it is.

Yea I have the first gen elite and it’s been good, but my left thumb has play in it now and I have snapped off my right bumper...
A lot of hours on that controller though.
Getting the X for sure. No point saving a couple hundred bucks now if I'm going to be using it for at least the next 5+ years. Although I'm slightly tempted to switch to PS5, but since I also took advantage of the Game Pass Ultimate promo and have subscription for another 2 years, maybe I'll just stick with Xbox ...
The plastic on the left handle of my elite controller fell off the other day. Right now it's being held together with a rubber band right now. Looks so ghetto, but slightly better grip.
Also gamepass which I have actually used a bunch. See a new game on steam and almost buy it and then somehow they are always on gamepass.
My first gen elite has a tiny bit of stick drift which I can cancel out with deadzone in the games themselves but my elite 2 the left y-axis sensor is broken so the stick doesn't recenter but lags back so in FPS your guy keeps walking so super annoying. Warranty of course is only 90 days.
I was all gung-ho to get both systems but really the PS5 has no games coming out either so I think I am going to wait until a bunch of exclusives are out.
I picked up the Xbox One at launch (even have the "Day one" or some shit on the included controller).
The most I have used it has been in Covid as I got Game Pass Ultimate. Kid plays NBA 2K.
I was going to get a One X, but then they announce the Series X, so I'll get one of those instead. Hopefully it doesn't sit for years before being used again.
I'm worried about SSD size too with game sizes these days. You can't just plug in extra storage either so it will suck if they have a crazy markup.
I haven't had any issues with my elite except it disconnecting all the time. I'm not sure what the issue is so I use it wired now which sucks.
At least controllers are forward compatible with Xbox unlike PS.
Too bad MS stores don't exist anymore but maybe they will still have some sort of trade for old consoles.
I’m going to wait as there doesn’t seem to be much coming out for games that i play. Switching to build the pc up so I can play mount and blade 2 and flight sim. I’ll buy the x at some point probably with Forza 8 or something
Taking the money that I'd use towards getting a Series X and applying it towards a new GPU since most(all?) of the Xbox exclusives are going to be on PC anyways.
4k gaming on this now right? cost benefit is going to be huge compared to a new 4k capable gaming rig.
Well benefit of series X/S is it plays all of the same games as the current consoles day 1 so you are just getting better graphics this year instead of waiting another year to buy the same console and play the same games.
There are no generations anymore. “Current gen” is 3 different Xbox’s with 3 different sets of capabilities. The 2020 consoles are same same, just better specs.
Basically upgrade if you want better graphics, don’t upgrade if you don’t care.
The naming drives me nuts. Series S is a smoking deal for the same price as the current One S. Honestly at 1440p, assuming it’s going to crank out the same level of rendering and ray tracing as the Series X @ 4k, it’ll effectively look the same if you’re on a tv smaller than 60”.
Always pre order and buy regardless if you want one. It’s free bet on interest free money. Costs nothing to pre order, return period at stores, and it’s guaranteed demand > supply the first couple of months. Easy money, as long as you don’t get robbed selling one lol.
This is not true. Games are separated into 2 gens. While the series gen is backwards compatible. At some point games will only work for the series machines.
It’s effectively true, the whole thing is a soft transition. Individual developers can choose not to enable games on the old consoles but there isn’t much incentive in that considering they just have to dial down the graphics for the older hardware. There is no practical difference between this and PC games with true minimum system requirements.
Sure, but there will come a point, probably within a year, where developers won't be making games for the Xbox One and just for the Xbox Series. From a consumer perspective, it's definitely a generation jump. From a hardware perspective, you're right, it's not (to a degree), basically you get to skimp out on optimization and testing on Xbox One.
I'd love to be wrong about that, as I have 3 One X's that I'd need to upgrade over time. Probably Series S for the kids TV's and Series X for my personal machine.
Current Gen - One S, One X.
Next Gen - Series S, Series X.
Problem is not everyone is referring to it this way. Just because we get it, it's a PITA to talk to others that don't haha.
I think if you are a casual console brainer these console generations are a no brainer pickup.
I got a ton of use out of my X, 3 full years of solid usage. 200 bucks a year for console budget is pretty easy to spend.
Pre-orders start Sept 22nd and it looks like $499 US is confirmed for the X.
You can pay for it monthly in Canada now too through EB Games. EA Play will be included with gamepass as well.
https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2020/09/...g-november-10/
Too bad. I would probably get all access except I vowed never to set foot in an EB Games ever again.
Not sure why I can’t just have them ship me one direct from MS.
https://www.nyse.com/quote/XNYS:GME
You really think they are getting a big cut?
IMO it’s all about generating traffic in their stores so people buy those little doll things.
$599 CAD confirmed

I should have converted a full 3 years of XBL Gold into Ultimate for $1. I only did what I had left on my subscription so it's only good until next Sept, oh well.
Essentially you can add up to 3 years of gold to your account and convert it to gamepass ultimate for $1.
Read the thread summary - https://forums.redflagdeals.com/micr...ths-1-2290218/
Ahhh. And that will work with All access or no?
I should check Costco here for XBL
Not sure how conversion would work if you already have it with all access. MS just said if you have EA Play with over 50 days left it will get cancelled and converted to GPU at 3:1.
You guys get much use of out ultimate?
The issue I have had is all the good first party games on it, I already own.
Yeah why not for $1? I didn't have to buy Gears 5 or Forza Horizon 4. You won't have to buy any of the new first party titles like Halo Infinite when it comes out.
Just maxed out my live duration from Costco and upgraded. Cheap trial for sure. 121 bucks that I was going to spend anyway.
I never bought horizon 4 so might rip on that a bit tonight.
So if I have 2.5 years left on my GPU, do they add another 2 on top?
Just to confirm - this is a payment plan for the console that also includes EA Play and Ultimate Game Pass?Quote:
Whether you’re upgrading to the newest consoles or joining the Xbox family for the first time, Xbox All Access is the easiest way to get the best of Xbox. Xbox All Access provides an Xbox Series X, or Series S, along with 24 months of the full Xbox Game Pass Ultimate experience. In total, that means you get access to:
The next-generation Xbox console of your choice
Over 100 high-quality games to play on console, including next-gen Optimized games
Over 100 high-quality games to play on PC
An EA Play membership to play more than 60 of EA’s biggest and best console and PC games
And over 100 games to play from the cloud
That’s all with no upfront costs and a low monthly price. Xbox Series S will be available starting from $24.99 a month for 24 months and Xbox Series X will be available starting from $34.99 a month for 24 months.
EA Play will be included for all GamePass Ultimate users, regardless if you do the monthly console plan or not. That happens this holiday season, so probably when Xbox Series goes on sale.
The value is huge, wonder if Sony will do anything to compete. PS Plus is really stingy on everything, which is why we're a mostly XB household since PS Plus doesn't even share multiplayer access.
Hard to say if I actually subscribe to game pass past 2023.
In the meantime it costs me nothing and gets me 20% off games that go on game pass and come off. Never have to pay for a first party title in that time frame either.
Honestly that’s far enough out to not matter.
CAD prices aren't out yet, but in the US, it's slightly cheaper to go monthly, something like $19 cheaper over the course of 2 years. The Series X/S comes with a code, so you redeem and it stacks the 24 months of GamePass Ultimate further.
I mean it's nothing compared to the $1 3 year deal, but that's a 1 time deal anyways.
Damn, that does look like a tempting deal. I've been holding out hope for a ps5 because of gran turismo, but that's starting to feel like the only draw..
Yea I’ll be just buying my series X outright.
Will see what all access looks like when the series X X comes out in 2023 lol

Waiting for GT to come out is the definition of insanity.
This is all making me extra pissed off that the new Vizio TV’s aren’t coming anymore ffs
If it was $50 cheaper, I might bite. $10 a year is just skipping 2 starbucks visits.
Wish they made an X without the drive. it will go completely unused. Any games I have purchased on my Xbox One have been digital and I've never used the drive.
Size of the S with the power of X. Bet it comes out in 3 years as a refresh.

It's the only reason I have a PS3. I currently don't know where it is.
The Series S is decent if you can live with 1440p. Honestly for most games you won’t be able to tell the difference. Just the AAA titles that focus on graphics extensively.
The S and X share the same CPU, just the GPU is gimped.
For the $220 difference, I would get the X as it will just last longer.
My launch Xbox One chugs on certain games cause it is 7 years old. I am sure a One X doesn't have that problem and the Series S will likely run into sooner than the Series X.
This is one reason i don't game much anymore. Everything gaming has gotten so fucking complicated.
Depends on how long you like to sit on a console waiting for a game to come out. GT5 was delayed what? Every 6 months for 3+ years on PS3?
Haven’t heard much good of any of the GT’s since 3 or 4. There are just so many better options these days that the franchise has solidly missed the boat.
You can get an xbox plus game pass ultimate starting at 24.99/month

@killramos I'm crossposting this reply here. You'll want to buy cheap USB3 external storage.
The Xbox Series S/X has the super fast SSD, 512GB for S, 1TB for X. Xbox Series games needs to run on there, including smart delivery games and cross platform games on the Xbox Series. The external drive (non SSD, cheap ass USB3 HDD) would be used to store and run all your Xbox One games, and store Xbox Series games to the super fast SSD.
In summary, you don't want to waste SSD space with Xbox One games, and they should be dedicated to Xbox Series games.
Yea I know, I’m just going to move my existing 3TB to my series X. I am just saying, while I can’t run games from USB. It would be nice to offload them from the NVME onto external so I can move them back and forth in minutes rather than need to re-download to the tune of an hour or more for a big game.
1TB is like 5 big games these days.
So tiny. I think I had missed the no ir port though. Sad days for my harmony remote I think.

The specs on these are amazing for the price. Having that big of a difference in price is awesome especially if you were on a budget but want to go next gen with friends
I think I read many moons ago that the XBOX has no plan to support VR. Is this still the case?
I think PS5 is going to provide VR support, which might be an incentive to switch over. I don't have a PC that can run VR so it would be nice to experience that via console.
I don’t think that’s accurate.
I don't think anything is concrete but they should have something in planning I would think
Some rumor about a hp/valve/ms headset
https://www.gfinityesports.com/artic...gen-vr-headset
I wouldn’t hold my breath. But I wouldn’t rule it out either.
Bethesda incoming - https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2020/09/...e-xbox-family/
So Skyrim and Fallout 4 4K remastered versions incoming.
Wasn’t fallout 4 already 4K remastered?
I’m just hoping we get the new doom on game pass. It looked fun.
Where is everyone pre-ordering from?
I'm going with Microsoft Store, Amazon, Walmart and Best Buy to make sure I get an X. It's also available at EB Games and The Source. The Source apparently charges full price right away so watch out for that.
I saw a comment say they figured out how to sell Skyrim yet another way haha
I’ll be ordering right from M$, that said Amazon’s website is probably better setup for the flood of traffic.
Does the pre-order open tonight at midnight or sometime tomorrow?
Wouldn't want beyonders missing out on their xbox's haha
Where are you guys going to preorder from ? Does it matter?
I'm thinking of pre-ordering from Shoppers if there is the slimmest chance that it would collect optimal points (and by miracle during a 20X points event?)
I have a feeling there will be lots of these to be had.
Buy from wherever floats your boat.
I bought my original one from Amazon, and my X Scorpio from M$. Both showed up on launch day.
I'm doing amazon. Best chance online of getting launch day. Bestbuy has dicked me before on the switch. I suppose with ms store you should be able to use xbox credit if you have any (Or buy cards from costco)
If you are balling and ok to front the cash order from both and return one.
If you pre-order on Amazon, it doesn't bill your CC until it ships, right? Sorry for the newb question, but haven't tried pre-ordering anything on Amazon before.
Prepping CC and webpages now...
Going to try Best Buy tomorrow morning.
