I am replacing a trailing arm bushing, #3 in the diagram:

I don't have the equipment to remove the old bushing or press the new one back in.
can someone help me out or know where I can take the arm and bushing swapped?

Is the self serve garage still open in the NE.
I used them a few years ago to press out / in the rear bushings on an old Pathfinder.
Back when I was young and smart, I removed a bushing in a leaf spring by burning out the rubber with a blow torch. Pressed the new one in using the weight of my truck and a flat spot in the frame. Redneck wrenching.

Legit did that repair in a field beside a falling-down barn too. It was my buddy's place, and he had a home-built wood-heated hot tub built out of a livestock trough. 100% serious. Did you know you can fit springs from a 99 Super Duty into a 1977 F250? You probably shouldn't, for several reasons, but it can be done. Guarantee I was drunk on Mountain Crest beer at the time too. No cousins were harmed.

Surprsingly, the issue with pressing in the new one is getting a nice straight force without anything twisting. I think the c-clamp was my first attempt and it didn't work somehow, so that's when I use the truck frame and a floor jack. Doest it still coutn as a floor jack if you are using it in a field? Maybe that's a field jack?Quote:
