Do we see the big two this week?
Judging by how things looked at Calgary Flames training camp on Monday, we might be getting our first look at the Flames top two forwards, Jarome Iginla and Alex Tanguay, on Tuesday when the Flames host Vancouver.
The pair have been working together throughout training camp, with Matthew Lombardi as their centre, and that was the way they lined up on Monday in the first ice session of the day.
Word is that the line-up for Tuesday’s tilt against the Canucks will come from the 25 skaters in the Iginla-Tanguay group. Others in the mix are newcomer Jeff Friesen, sophmore Dion Phaneuf, rookie Dustin Boyd, Russians Andrei Taratukhin and Andrei Zyuzin, Robyn and Richie Regehr, Daymond Langkow, Marcus Nilson and tough guy Eric Godard. Chuck Kobasew, who scored against Florida, was also in the group. In all there are 25 players in the group so it is entirely possible that Iginla nd Tanguay will rest and perhaps dress against Edmonton later in the week.
The sense I have is fans want to see is how Iginla and Tanguay are playing together. I spoke with Tanguay briefly following the practice on Monday and he said the pair are feeling each other out and learning each other’s tendencies through training camp and that they are aiming to be firing on all cylinders together when the Flames take on the Oilers on Oct. 5 in the season opener.
Methinks we will get a look at the new top duo sometime this week, maybe even as early as Tuesday.
Flames Talk

I'm looking forward to seeing (well hearing) what taratuhkin can do, I heard Amonte is looking good this year, too.:goflames:
yeah it is always interesting to see how the young guys do in camp. Is it just me or does the Nucks lineup look mighty weak tonight?
