That’s not going to last on appeal
Found this comment on Reddit. Makes sense to me
Quote:
Playing devils advocate, the murder charge isn’t specifically about intent. If the jury felt the 9 minute knee to neck restraint while unconscious went beyond restraint and constituted assault, and Floyd died while being assaulted, that’s second degree murder
More specifically:
Second-degree murder is causing the death of a human being, without intent to cause that death, while committing or attempting to commit another felony. In this case, the alleged felony was third-degree assault
Next time the cop won’t bother with restraint. When he fights just shoot him.
If the police bother showing up to calls in predominantly black neighborhoods in the first place anymore.
Was the knee on the back (I believe the video shows back, not neck, please correct me if I am wrong) a police tactic that was taught and used?
This is all that matters to me. Follow protocol, absolved of guilt and it is the system's fault. Don't follow protocol, 3rd degree murder.
No way 2nd degree murder sticks. Hopefully this gives enough time for the anger to go away when it is overturned on appeal.

"Judge in Derek Chauvin trial says Rep. Maxine Waters' comments may be grounds for appeal"
Political and mob interference, coupled with the court's decision not to sequester the jury or move the case, I would say gives the defence quite a bit of ammo for appeal.
I would say she wasn't fighting. She's about to get a pay day though after the lawsuit. Almost daily examples of this, but it's usually just swept away w/o any public knowledge.

That seems to vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, probably on account that level of training varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. From what I've seen and read, those that do allow it, allow it to the extent of getting enough control to restrain them with handcuffs. Anything above and beyond that is considered excessive use of force because of the risk for serious/permanent injury.
Pfft.. White woman named Karen? Yawn. She probably deserved it cause White Supremacy, White privilege and stuff.
Show me the real victims who have casual knife fights with neighbors and play cops and robbers with real police officers so I can post a black square on my private instagram page for awareness.
^This is probably why it's swept away with barely any social traction. It doesn't serve people's agendas and narrative. Only black people can be victims.
BLM own self interest? Hmm some people got had.

Trained marxists directly benifiting from capitalism. The irony is deafening
I had a good laugh at "BLM: Buying Large Mansions".
Is that how basically every Marxist government or organization works?
