took my vehicle in for minor bodywork to lou's , was told that they never work on a car that has had any previous work done on it somewhere else.
was quoted $3000-5000 for about 6 hours of work.
$1400 to install a airbag...
sounds like crooks to me. anyone have any experiences at Lou's?
Airbags are typically around that price. Is the 6 hours your guess or actual 6 hours quoted? Factor your bumper or whatever is probably $1000 plus airbag plus fitment and straightening probably about right.

and how much were the parts out of this $3-5k? Did you get a detailed estimate?
It'll tell you what the shop rates are... Alberta, I think ranges from $65-$90/hour
