I bought a rim (gsr blade) that someone tried to paint. I'd like to get it back to the polished aluminum alloy look.
Can someone recommend something that can strip the paint yet be safe on the aluminum?
Would sandblasting be a viable option? I know the alumnimum is soft so I am not sure if it will pit or not.

the aluminum was probably sanded before the paint was applied, so using paint thinner wouldn't bring back the polished look; it will only remove the paint
I can fix that for you, but they might end up looking alot like SiR wheels when I'm done.:poosie:
if you get a product called Talstrip it works well on aluminum for stripping the paint off..try any automotive store..
u will have to polish them after, nothing u do besides polishing will make them look shiny again

Agreed! Not quite the same but I did one of my old mtb frames exactly this way to freshen it up and it worked awesome, that shit will bubble the paint off in no time flat and you can basically just wipe it off.Quote:

Thanks guys. I think I'm gonna try it out. At what point do I stop sanding and can just polish it up with a product? 1000 grit? higher?
