my friends 88 taurus has some steaming problem :|

my friend has an 88 v6 taurus and after long drives, direct quote now:
Odorless steam coming out of what appears to be right of the engine block and makes a strange scraping noise occasionally when driving

is the engineblock cracked ?

Based on what you posted, I can't see the correlation between the scraping noise and the cracked block. Although if it WAS cracked and was leaking, I doubt it would be odorless-you'd be smelling coolant or oil. Does the temp guage go above normal?? Is there any smoke coming from the exhaust?

is there oil in the car?????:dunno: :banghead:

well.. i cant tell u anymore atm.. he had it towed cause it broke down after 0.2 miles after he took off from home.

Now it sounds like a siezed motor due to lack of oil....

Those motors tended to go through head gaskets pretty well. Is the oil kind of a milky white?

i dont kno what was exactly wrong he didnt look under himself too well and i didnt get a peak cause he broke down before i could see it.. he told me now that the shop said he needs a new radiator and some hoses replaced.. only hope its that minor :)
