With more and more new people joining cruises, consensus reveals there are drivers who prefer early evening cruises.
So if there is a desire to cruise earlier, with the sun still out,
weather still warm, this one is for you.

This arrangement is ideal for those who:

want to complete the earlier cruise and then join the regular weekend cruises (usually @10:30pm)

OR
want to cruise on the weekend however do not want to stay out late.

Where: Calgary Deerfoot Mall - SEARS LOT Facing Deerfoot Trail.
When: Friday May 21st, 8:00pm

Details:
8:00pm Meet at West side of Deerfoot Mall (SEARS),
8:30pm Head out from Deerfoot to Barlow Trail Head Southbound
9:00pm ***Checkpoint ARRIVAL at Maxbell Arena***
9:30pm Cruise to Blackfoot Trail SE (very minimal lights)
10:00pm Arrive at Chinook 2nd Level Parkade, Cruise Complete.

Last cruise Friday was perfectly tight!

Young man, some enlightment? the entire cruise will probably be an actual 1-1.5 hour of driving time with checkpoints

Checkpoints are present prior to next destination. Its where additional drivers arrive, people chill, take pics, chatting etc. It's not just about driving only, its a way to meet people and make some new friends, learn a thing or two. right?

I doubt any of us has a desire in proving to be fastest. We don't want any speeding tickets and it's not a race.

I might show up if I get everything together in time.

i might show not too sure yet though

I might pop in for the cruise. Would be just enough time to get off work, get home to airdrie to shower, eat, and head out and meet some new people.

I will be drivin a silver cavy with a big assed ricer wing :thumbsup:

might be there too.. not too sure yet.. haha.

traffic = 4:30pm - 6:00pm.

She wants to work through our wedding details tomorrow (Friday) night, which means, I won't be able to meet up with you guys. :banghead: Sure sounds like I'm already married... Next week hopefully I can make it!

This would be an ::extension:: to the Friday Cruise.
Many drivers will likely already be at the Chinook Parking lotl area around 10:00pm / 10:30pm.


Options:

The Glenmore Bridge Rd:
leads to a real fantastic view of the Glenmore Reservoir if anyone knows about it. Difficult to access, but probably the best place to stop in the entire city. 50 parking stalls along edge of the reservoir offers a spectacular view. Regarded as one of the best places to do a photoshoot with the expansive view of the Glenmore

Stoney Trail:
Conventional route, easy to drive. Good for large meets! Best freeway in Alberta, one of the largest import meets in Calgary history was recently accomplished 1 month ago...

Crowchild Trail:
North Or Southbound, long stretch of road connecting North and South Calgary along the west side of centre street. minimal roads, lower-than highway speeds, triple lanes. Perfect Junction points for cruises!

Old Banff Coach Road:
Lots of turns, twists and chicanes. Not recommended to drive at night due cold and loose pebbles. Fairly safe during daytime, drive with caution with oncoming traffic.

Memorial Drive:
Easy coasting, fairly safe, minimal lights. Excellent road for transitioning to a central checkpoint location.

John Laurie Blvd:
Another excellent road for cruising, located furthur north of Calgary. Minimal lights, however there may be a few.

Bow Bottom Tr:
Great Sunday Morning Day drive, uninterrupted, if your target is Sikome Lake!

it is a really nice drive down in fish creek park, BUT its only 1lane the whole way, and the road is also used as a foot path... just something to think about

I would be there now, but when I installed my wheels drivers side rear got some negative camber and I don't want to chew up a new 315.

Had a good time tonight. First time going on a cruise and I will definitely be going more often. In for pics!

Is anyone meeting for a later cruise? Just drove to the casino and there were only two skylines, now I'm at Chinook but there's only 3 cars here.

Wish you guys would have made it to chinook.

Sort of, Cosmic - We met up at Deerfoot and cruised down to Max Bell, but it was bloody cold by the time we got there so we decided to skip getting stuck in down at Chinook.

We looped around down Blackfoot to Glenmore, cut across to Crowchild and rolled all the way up to the Denny's in Crowfoot. About half the cruise bailed at the Dennys, and the rest of us chilled out for about an hour and a half and grabbed a bite to eat. Then we ended up rolling down to the Tim's on 61st to see who was kicking around from Secret Street. From there we picked up another six or eight cars and made our way down to Glenmore, went all the way west to Sarcee and then north to Bow Trail and ended up at Eau Claire. Hung out there for about fifteen, and as it was about one o'clock at that point, we decided to call it and went our own merry ways.

All in all, an excellent way to spend a Friday night, I think. There were some bloody fine cars that made appearances - Couple of S2000s and an absolutely ridiculous 300ZX in particular... That car was balls.

Anyway, the plan is to do it again next week, so hopefully we wont end up bypassing Chinook and ditching you lot.

No mention of my car :( .. Lol guess it wasent sexy enuff .. Lol

I'm in for pictars! Hopefully some came out nice of that silver S2000. :drool: Great show last night, good drive! Little nippy though

i agree, some very nice and cool cars, the rx7 was pretty sick, as was the ae86, very clean motor, and so many more, I hope to see them all again and more next time
