Its pretty bad, even Apple is delaying their high end Ipads for at least six months. There is little doubt one has to blame the USA for crippling chip progress and production long before covid. As much as Biden *wants* to build a chip manufacturing plant, its not agiven that they will be successful in the coming years. USA has a metric ton of chemical propulsion engineers, but not a whole lot of <10 nm micron transistor engineers. I give the chances of the USA producing a working chip manufacturing plant at less than 50/50.
I fully blame the mentality of NASA, where if you can't do yourself in 2021 - you make sure noone else does. Tonya Harding.
