So I sent an thank you letter after an interview, the interviewer replied with this
"Your application is with the Employment department. They shall contact you this week.
Welcome aboard.
Best regards"
English is not my first language, and my fd told me "Welcome aboard" means I am hired?
Yes, it sounds like they will hire you.
Or maybe their English is a poor as yours and what they really mean is, "Welcome, I'm a board."

Generally speaking, if they say welcome aboard I'm pretty sure you have the job. Especially since this is a post interview email. It would be extremely misleading on their behalf if they replied with welcome aboard and not hire you afterwards.
