Border Crossing
im leaving for vegas on the 29th and im wondering if i need a passport to cross the border now? ive always used my birth certificate and drivers license without trouble except my last trip in 2004 where i was searched and had to go inside to validate my ID or something...took about 45 min but i didnt really care, has anything changed? FYI im brown lol

I would get a passport, just for the ease of it :)

No, you don't offically need a passport to get into the United States yet but you will in 2007.

If you're brown, DEFINATELY Get a passport, and be prepared for a major pain in the ass. I went last christmas, and i'm not brown, and it was a pain in the ass w/out a passport.
If you're flying, DONT go through LA, fly directly out of calgary because we can do US customs preclearance in Calgary, and then land as a domestic flight in LV.

My passport has been expired for over a year and I've crossed the border over 3 times in the last year with just a birth certificate and a drivers license.
Although if have an expired passport you can bring that as well and use it as ID.

If you don't have a passport by now, you may not get one in time, took me 3 weeks to get mine back in January.

This question has been asked a hundred times. Do a search...
But to save you the trouble...
2007 if you go into the States by air or sea, you need a passport.
2008 if you go into the states by air, sea or land, you need a passport
