There's dual monitor solutions already. Using display link as 2nd monitor, which includes its own graphics driver. Not really a clean setup. I can wait.

I posted a wtb thread in our marketplace, but just throwing another feeler out here:
If anyone is replacing an ipad, or wants to get rid of an old one, pm me. Looking to replace an ancient ipad that's too old to run disney+ and is used to distract our toddler for a few minutes here and there as req'd (so obviously looking for one new enough to run all the streaming apps).
I have no clue either. Read somewhere that they had to develop their own TB3 chipset and the limitation is there because of time constraints in getting it out before year end, but I'm 100% sure that's just a rumour. I'm sure I'm the exception in running MBA's and entry MBPs with multiple external monitors, so it really doesn't affect that many people, so Apple made the decision to release it this way. We keep forgetting that these are Apple's entry level laptops. It's just that the performance has moved up one wrung of the ladder where all of a sudden people with more specific needs are wanting to get them, which is why the single monitor output is all of a sudden in the spotlight.
Remember that prior to the M1 the MBA could not drive dual 4K monitors at all without throttling when the text screen saver came on. The MBP could drive it, and be usable, but definitely makes the laptop more laggy and fans going nuts. The laptops that the M1's replaced could not (MBA) or borderline (MBP 2 port) at driving 2 external monitors. Just because kenny and I live with it on the MBP i5 because of hardware budget constraints, true power users wouldn't accept them as usable IMO.

Interesting article on the “true” limitations
It’s still a limitation. We used to use display link on windows laptops to drive large number of displays past the laptops limitations as well. I mean it’s not an issue at home, but it’s an issue for general use docks at the office where anyone can plug into because they all have to be configured properly before it can be used.
Thanks, didn't realize they were that much different in specs. It will only be for my basement gym, but it is only $30 more.
Also waze dashboard support coming soon

Rumor: iPad Pro with OLED display coming in the second half of 2021
They have to have reason for you to buy the 16" MBP with M1X next year.

Picked up the last M1 MBA today. Apple layout and commands are weird man.
Now my problem is that I can't get any of the dmg files to open. Double clicking on the files does nothing. Can't even install the jre package. Help? lol
looks like JRE needs Intel based chip?

for some dmg files, once you run them, they might just get mounted and you should see the installer on the desktop
Load boatcamp, run windows, done
disclaimer, I have no idea if bootcamp runs on the new MBA
Bootcamp doesn't work on the new chip but someone has just recently done it. Turns out that it needs a bunch of OS updates.
The lack of my number 1 productivity tool, MS Paint, is killing me.
