It's not a terrible drawback until you have a shit neighbor. Friends have a $700g duplex like yours, and their first neighbor was a loud music playing drug dealer. They were miserable for the first couple of years until he sold.

at every price point, detached is better, but there's a trade-offs. You don't get the same location and features with an $800k infill duplex vs an $800k detached home.
If I knew for certain I had good neighbors and a solid party wall. I'd rather a duplex than a detached tbh. Be friendly with the neighbours so you can take turns snow shoveling so you only go out half the time in the cold. Less yard to maintain, save on heating costs, roof and siding replacements are cheaper, low key can split wifi and save money but doubtful people would do that.
I will never share a wall with another person again. Did the townhouse thing once, never again. Nope, nope, nope.
