October 1st. Tires come off April 1st.
I used to install in September, due to the night/morning temps, but since I've gone to studded tires, I wait until the snow actually starts sticking to the ground.
I usually do mid to late September to avoid the rush. Its paid off a few times too.
But since Im laid off, its thrown that routine off. I have no idea now.
Edmonton is showing snow on a couple of days later this week, albeit really light and probably won't stick. I will see, I will get to it when I get to it I guess.
I wait until "real snow" is in the forecast for my own car. But I can change mine in about thirty minutes.
On the wife's can, since I need tirebob to do it, sometime in October. She runs all seasons 8n the summer though, so no rush.
My winter car right now is on almost bald summers lol...I don't want to wear down the winters as there's only 60 ish percent left. Thursday is rain snow mix, shouldn't stick.... shouldn't. Driving into Peter Lougheed provincial park in two weeks though so probably a good idea to get them switched sooner...
October. It helps working at a dealer. Can get it done any time really.
Booked in for Oct 12th.
Will be parking the car and switching to winter beater as soon as temps are consistently below 3C for my morning commute or if we get any amount of lingering snow on the ground I guess.
Last year I managed to stretch a touch into December so who knows, take it day by day.
I usually use October 15th and May 15th as my tire changing days.
Reminds me, I have to order some for my car.
You guys have any recommendations for winters on an AWD sedan? My gf has the Hakka 8 w/studs. They are pretty good,... anything better?
I'm thinking the Hakka R2's
Hakka R3's for me.
Studded tires for us. Never again, studless.
Also I generally wait until overnight lows average below 0 - usually mid/late October .
I want to remain studless because it will be parked in my garage so I dont want to destroy my cement. I'm leaning towards the R2 or R3.
Picked up a winter set from tirebob last week so I'm ready to go. Mid Oct give or take is my usual schedule to switch.
