You have to be a pretty disgusting human being to not acknowledge these things before judging a BIPOC

On the contrary.
I commend Kane for being able to rack up nearly $27M in debt and be in a position to leverage a better deal. In a world where young, black people are often rejected for loans and mortgages at a higher rate and given little to no recourse for options when faced with bankruptcy. Seeing somebody who was given half a million in markers at a casino is the kind of debt most can only dream of having access to is more aspirational than you’d think.
This kind of spectacular financial failure for hockey players usually has to involve a shady winery and golf course development deal run by a family friend acting as their financial advisor. Kane did this all on his own. Beating the odds (by not beating the odds).
Can only imagine the trash talking he’s gonna be subjected to on the ice lol but don’t feel bad at all.
Ahhhh, now I know why he was calling out the Paul brothers to box. Gotta get some $$$ back
It does seem like a win to me. Somehow prove you are worth $million by throwing ball into bucket or puck into net, then convince bank you are worth extra $million - because "winning". Get to spend $double million over a lifetime when all the money eventually runs out. If you did not do "con job" on the bank, then you would only have got to enjoy spending half as much money.
Logic is logical, if you assume that is all a con game. I would have spread it out, to double money spendable to old age though, which is why I assume white people do art and wineyards and golfcourses - gotta stretch out that double con game. Its literally Trump.
Glad hockey is back on. Oilers showed just how terrible defensively they (still) are.
Pucks in deep.
Don't want to jump to any conclusions based on a one-game sample, but both the Canucks and Oilers defense looked like absolute shit. Missing coverage all over the place.
Every team looked pretty sloppy last night, i guess this is evidence that the preseason exists for a reason despite many wanting to do away with it. Sports fans love knee jerk reactions when a season starts, but i'd give it 5 games to see some real trends. Obviously with the shortened season this will have a greater affect on the overall outcome, but it is what it is and i'm just happy to have puck back.
There's no doubt. Their years of #1 picks were all soft-handed forwards who underperformed because bad D is the double-edged sword that leaves you hemmed in your own zone, and, with poor breakout skills.
Those underperforming forwards don't have enough value to make a trade for a Webber or Doughty and they are stuck in rinse/repeat. Now they have two Hart winners and still might barely make playoffs.
Fan attendance in Florida, they might actually have a chance to lead the league in attendance average this year!
Any other NHL cities that allow fans in arenas?
^Will be interesting to see how that goes.
I saw a headline saying Spezza is going onto waivers.
That surprised me.
Fuck Toronto. That is all.
Although the waivers thing is going to be wild this year. Some big name going to be going through it for cap reasons. Shit, can we send Lucic to the taxi squad for a week? He coukd probably use the rest, and nobody will claim him, or if they did we'd be happy anyway. Good guy, egregious contract.
It was Edmonton who signed Lucic to 7 years. Calgary has to accept some blame for taking part of that contract on, but it was insane in Edmonton.
My detailed knowledge of the cap, contracts and things like that is far below average. I defer to you guys on all that.
