I got an offer I couldn’t refuse, covid times and all that

Well, you win either way.
Looks great!
Let me know if you no longer need the sidesteps, I'll take them off your hands ;)
They’re the only thing saving what’s left of my side bolsters
Sounds like it's time for ep3 type r recaros!
That accessory trim is ultra rare. Element nerds pay big bucks for it:)
Looking good, all around.
Nice ride! Is the AWD on this great for dirt tracks or does it have locking 4WD?
Don’t know much about this and looks nicer than a Cherokee
Slip to grip but there is a kit that allows you to adapt a land rover freelander viscous coupler so it acts more like a Subaru/wagovan. I’m just going to run the real-time this year as I don’t plan to take it in anything more than gravel roads for hiking/camping/etc
Got some hen’s teeth parts to help the ocd beyond crew enjoy the thread

$100 for the full set from an ab wrecker and I gave Jordan a line on some Oem side steps from the same element
I’m hopefully going to meet with a family friend next week to learn about wrapping. Seats are on the radar but might be more of a spring thing.
:poosie:
Key saga finally sorted and working! Dash cam goes in this week.

Still need to repair the lower trim piece, still need to wrap it, and supply chain issues are making it a bitch to get OEM axles for a reasonable price. That said, worked like a champ for camping.
Great set up!
Agreed, like that a lot too. Now you've got me searching for an Element myself Finboy, just to see what's out there. I know it makes me a poser 4x4 driver, but I don't like driving our ZR2 into places where tree branches can scratch the crap out of it no matter what ppf/ceramic/etc is on it. I think for camping for the 2 of us +1 fur missile this vehicle is perfect for the couple/few places we've liked in the past near our folks.
Not cheap though, wow, even for this car market, some of the prices seem wiggada wiggada wack. 20$k for a 13+ year old Element with nearly 300,000 km. Maybe someday in the future should pricing ever return to sanity - coin flip on that one IMO - this will be a more reasonable idea for me. If I was any good at working on cars myself, going for a "needs tlc" unit would make more sense too. I do like what I'm seeing with the Element for this purpose though, and I've never even sat in one, nor paid them any mind until this thread. Friend had a Toyota FJ in the late 2000s I borrowed a couple times, and I think it'd be a good option too, but it's more $, and a lot larger, and I like the Element smaller size for some of the spots we'd like to camp at again in the near future.
I also cross shopped the fj (way cooler, future classic), but the interior space is less usable and I don’t off-road. The price was also more than double (I paid $6k for my element), even a clapped out ‘07 fj 6 speed is 15k all day.
There are a couple things that could help the element with a bit more light off-road duty, the gas tank is basically unprotected so a skid plate under it would be ideal. Also, the real-time awd system is slip to grip, so not ideal but upgradable in a pretty interesting way. A few guys adapted the viscous coupler from the land rover freelander and shortened the driveshaft to compensate for a more Subaru-like awd approach.
