Best thing I've done for my shoes was to stop commuting in fhem
Interesting. I just chose the size that was the most tight but still comfortable. Perhaps it's due to the style. Oxfords?
Thanks bruvva. They came with dark violet laces and I've just been upping the colour pop as time goes on.
Conti's has a wide selection of laces. I got these from Steve Madden but I find they're a little thick. I've been meaning to buy aglets...metal ones. But not as garish since the laces kind of... Handle that lol

I've used many of their raw hide laces and quality is top notch
Found a shoeshine kit at winners yesterday. I'm sure the polish is garbage, but has two small bristle brushes, which I needed anyway. Also found it hilarious that the brand name was "Hipster". That chuckle closed the deal.
^yeah brushes are probably all you need. The polish can be used to touch up soles.
This is the set I have:

my shoeshine skill is no where near what some of you guys do.
bought this kit from Shoppers years ago and keep it in my desk drawer, I use an old rag to apply the polish.

I just quickly brush the shoes for dirt, apply polish, wait couple of minutes then brush it again.
Probably do this every quarter.
and +1 on keeping the shoes in the office. been doing this for years and reduces the wear and dirt big time.
Learned a lot from The Armoury:

Slowly getting into this. Have some supplies now, saddle soap and some neutral saphir cream.
Before and after on my worst shoes. A shit pair of Denver Hayes. Was like ten minutes work and they look loads better.

It's amazing how much more even the finish looks even without tinted polish. Best thing about that saphir is it smells nice. Doesn't make me worried about getting it on my hands or elsewhere.
Edit: those photos are backwards obvs.
Speaking of shoes, does anyone know what is going on with the Allen Edmonds site? I was hoping to order a few pairs of them but the Canadian site keeps freezing on me on both Safari and Chrome.
Or Church's!
Another renovation on a terrible old pair. This set of Blundstones is ~15 years old, and has probably only been polished twice in that time. Before, after saddle soap, and then after saphir neutral cream pics. I'm really happy with this Saphir cream. Incredible how big of a difference it makes given that it has no tint to it. I need to gather up some more saphir products. Amazon sells a few colours of this cream.

My latest. Stripped the polish off these, conditioned, reapplied color, then mirror glossed. :)

Great work!! My AE Strands are looking pretty sad these days, but after a little leatherique I find they come back to life, of course a good polish etc is required. They have been pretty much daily drivers for the past 4 years. Never buying cheap shoes again.
You shoeshine degenerates, O'Connors has a good selection of the saphir in both cream and wax styles. the cream I got my my new AE's was $18. Lot better than what I've seen online. I think that's their regular everyday price too.
