As in if they are driving your vehicle? Yes, you need to add them as a driver.
Yes you add them as a named driver, super easy.
I meant if they had their own car.
You buy Insurance to protect you.
Are they driving your car which could expose you to loss or liability? Then you should insure that exposure.

Well we don't need a nanny, but we are hiring a lady to take the MIL to her doctor appointments which is every 2 months or so - the lady will only be driving her maybe 30 mins every 2 months. She asked us if we need to buy extra insurance. I said no "we" dont but you might. Personally I use my own car to drive myself to worksites all the time but perhaps I should be hiring cars because commercial car insurance sounds expensive, its prob alot more expensive than the benefit of driving someone 6 times a year for less than 2 or 3 hours total.

Yeah thats what we told this person - if they are concerned about it we can just pay for uber whenever they need to go to the appointment which is only in signal hill.
