Yikes that’s not good. I hope they can contain it and it doesn’t cause too much damage
Looks like it’s going to go beyond repair.
Glad I got to see it when I went a few years ago!
Was just there a few weeks ago. Surreal. Total loss
terrible
They can probably rebuild but the history lost there. Wonder if some construction worker screw up on the repair give the amount of scaffolding in the area.
This is very sad news. 850 years old
Meanwhile, in Shell Scotford RHC:

Edit: fixed link
If it was lightning, I have questions.
it was a church, not a synagogue. /s
"Last year, the Catholic Church in France appealed for funds to save the building, which was crumbling."
Sounds like there were big issues with the building already.
Damn that sucks. It was beautiful when I went there several years ago.
I wonder if the Avs are a little concerned about tonights matchup after seeing how the Flames just dominated Notre Dame.
wrong link, although that one also has something to do with fire :P

Just awful and tragic. The building is historic and its contents (relics, artwork, stained glass, etc) are irreplaceable.
Wow, brutal - pretty glad I got to see it, but that was over a decade ago, and was in the plans for Europe next year. Those stones it was built with will make that fire like an oven (a guess). They said that last week they had removed the bronze statues and much of the art/relics due to the renovations, I hope they didn't return them before this fire broke out.
My company worked the emergency response plan when the underground gas storage tanks caught fire at BP's facility in Fort Sask back in 2001. I remember because 9/11 happened the next week while we were deployed there and it was a bit of a PITA with security changes after that. It burned for several weeks IIRC, I know we didn't get released until a near the end of September. All over a little elbow that failed connecting 2" lines, and the plume of gas hit the overhead power lines and ignited.
Glad they got this fire in Ft SK out much faster.
