Doesn't matter. The implications aren't a CRA tax avoidance scheme. It is an illegal raffle as per AGLC. If it's random and you're not registered as a non profit with a lottery license, it's illegal.
However, far as I can tell from the laws, if you just made it so your purchase bought you a skill testing question that unlocked an entry to the draw, and only correct answers could get entered. Then it becomes legal because it's a contest of skill not complete randomness.
I would have thought AGLC only comes into play with a cash prize.
Just did a quick google and i guess gift raffles technically would need to be registered:

more trouble than it's worth
Gambling income isn't taxable, unless you're winning a ton of waffles, there's no problem there. Poker players have problems with it when it becomes a near full time job.
It's the hosting of it that's a problem, as it bypasses AGLC shit. Which is why we can't host one here.
You can always change it up a little though, like those house ones where the AGLC has deemed it legal. But that means the person hosting has to choose the winner.

But with with no regulation, and easily faked "random" draws though, right? That's the impression I am getting from this thread.
With Corvettes and boats and other things of high value being raffled, the effort required to fake a draw would be incredibly low compared to the reward.
His wins were pretty big.
@JfuckinC you think the zr1 waffle was rigged?
Definitely hard to not think it was Fishy i agree lol... They Re-structred the page now so is that a tell it was shady?
:dunno:
Shady indeed.
Only 100 spots left on this Lambo waffle. Few of you fuckers should get in on that and get the thing drawn for.
Enjoy your arson.
It won't be the actual person, but I bet it's a friend/family/associate that does. There's a reason this kind of thing is illegal, and it's not just for tax purposes.
What pisses me off is when actual businesses use these pages to move their old inventory... so many sleds, bikes, side by sides straight from the showroom floor... or “pick between this that or the other model” BS
Would be interesting if they ever got audited... “Hrm... why do you have 200 emt’s for $150??”
