Cersei summed it up pretty well: they don't want a revolutionary on the Iron Throne. They don't want the wheel to be broken. The wheel makes them money, so they'll pay to keep it intact.

Im quite curious how the books are going to go from here out (assuming they're ever finished). More specifically the Brotherhood and Lady Stoneheart. Seeing as how many Starks are alive and home. Or maybe not so many stay alive in the new book.
You really think there will be anymore books? I don't see it, I bet GRRM is fully checked out as he's watching it play out on TV, and is probably bored of trying to write the same (or being forced to differ) from what he's seeing. I don't think we'll see another from him in ASOFI
Welcome back dragons, it's been a long time. Good episode to show everybody before it gets crazy, well except Melisandre. Who else did I miss?
Spoiler:
kid stuck to the wall with the arms was nasty
So happy I watched the finale of season 7 before diving into tonight’s episode. So many story arcs to remember!
Glad to see GoT is back again and that it will be out every Sunday until it is done in May.
I noticed that the CGI quality is slightly inferior than previous episodes though.
Funny you say that, I thought to myself that the dragon scenes seemed off/subpar. Most of the budget probably went to the battle episode coming up lol.
Overall it was a pretty classic GOT season opener, setting up the season and reuniting everyone finally. Definitely not as epic as I or everyone was hoping but gave everyone and thing a push towards what's going to shake out.
After a 2 year hiatus, the showrunners must be happy that Lyanna Mormont didn't age too quickly like Bran Stark.
Overall decent episode. As expected, not alot of action but just moving these chess pieces in place. I really, really, REALLY wish the series and it's seasons were longer to elaborate and play out these new character dynamics and relationships that are introduced/re-introduced.
I felt really shortchanged with the Arya/Sansa dynamic last season.
how do i block this post until the season is over. I am weak! i have scrolled down as fast as possible to avoid spoilers but for how long can i resist!
Mother. Of. God.
Signed up for crave for their trial period to watch it. And fuck what a POS system that is. Have to ‘allow tracking’ on your browser to even get it to play... thanks bell.
Finally got it to work... worrrrth it
Great fucking episode... and totally stoked for next week to see where it goes from here.
That was far from a great episode for me.
I don't even know where to start to describe how disappointing that episode was.
4/10
that was pretty boring.
They could have edited that shit down to about 10 minutes, and I would have been fine with it.
Walking Dead meets How to Train Your Dragon meets Night King and his Infinity Gauntlet meets World War Z.
blah.
The action was great, the storyline wasn't. Every 5 minutes my wife and I were asking why the fuck they "werent doing this", or "how are these halls/rooms so empty?"
You'd think they'd at least been smart enough to make some glass arrows, and you know, not have one of the dragons just sitting on a wall while thousands of zombies are just standing around waiting for orders.
