I’ve only used it for about half an hour so far but Mail (which was my biggest gripe) seems a bit better. Let’s see if it stays this way

Any of you guys using a mouse with MACoS?
Thinking of picking this guy up. Can also use with my boring win10, woke laptop.

I bought an iPhone 11 Pro Max today. Well technically I did, someone stole my credit card and ordered one up.
Not sure if @Mitsu3000gt wins on a technicality.
Magic Mouse is quite good actually and looks great. But I still just use a normal mouse, Razer Deathadder on my iMac and an Orochi for laptop.
Issue with Magic Mouse is your control scrolling isn’t really there which can be frustrating.
I would skip the touchpad, that’s really not that good.
Word. You can program the Mouse so if you hold it, it acts as if it's right click.
Control scrolling? What do you mean? It did take me some time to get used to the reverse scroll vs. Windows mouse scrolling but it's not bad. I like how it has gesture features on the mouse. It's a gimmick for sure
You can reverse the scroll in settings. That’s nbd.
I just mean the scroll can go crazy sometimes in very unexpected ways compared to a notched scroll week on a mouse.
I used a Magic Mouse for years, I moved to a razer when I was doing more finicky CAD work in school to stop things from blowing up when multitouch glitched out.
I rather use that 60K to put towards buying a banana taped to a wall.
But jokes aside, I definitely understand the market for this. Was just being a smart ass. All I can do is just stick to the 5k imac I ordered a week ago, which is more than enough for what I do.
Never figured out what a SGI workstation was actually used for. For video coding back in those days, I just did the overnight Windows with open source VirtualDub, I mean sure - you had to leave it on overnight (and usually three passes for a MP4 code). You could plug in some crazy filters that didn't really exist in some of the retail platforms, including a deinterlacer that actually made old VHS tapes look of passable quality.
I did a lot of MP4 videos with OGG audio, resulting in .OGM's, which never really took off. You could still rename the OGM to MP4, and with most players it would at very least decode the video and 80% of the time, the audio as well.
With my Asian "Yanni" ears, still capable of hearing 14,400hz - OGG to this day still sounds better than MP3.
They are shit and I've been torturing myself with one for 10 years, haha. The issue I have is scrolling needs to be exactly in line with the mouse. Any bit of angle will cause the scroll to be horizontal and not vertical as intended. Or super light touches zooming the screen in or accidentally 'clicking' on shit you don't want. DO NOT RECOMMEND. If somebody tells you to buy one, they secretly hate you.
Google maps doesn't allow you to scroll like that. Scroll = Zoom, it's like that on the mouse or touchpad. That's a Google Maps problem. Apple Maps scrolls properly, but is a POS.
The Magic Mouse isn't the best mouse in the world, but I do like the touch interface. It's a nice trick to save some time and not have to use the touchpad, especially for scrolling through virtual desktops.
Magic Mouse is horrible, thought I'd get used to it but I have phantom scrolls on everything. Spreadsheets constantly scrolling sideways when I'm trying to go up/down and Google Maps zooming in and out unexpectedly.
I didn't even realize Apple maps had a desktop version, thought it was only on iOS. What's the URL?
About $50,000 desktops:
There is something to be said about simply pushing HDMI to a portable device like a 5 watt Ipad or 15 watt laptop over Wifi or 5G cellular. You could literally have a dozen quantum computers at the other end, and simply display the output to the thin client. In that manner a $50,000 desktop would be infinitely slower.
I can imagine this is what all VR headsets will eventually do, a simple dumb 3D device (maybe 5 watt) with input, hooked up to a quantum computer to do all the calculations.
In that case, Amazon Web Services make take the lead - if they have backend servers that are 1 Petaflops or so.
Just read Apple is going to do a 5.4” phone OLED for sept.
It’ll be slightly smaller than the X I currently have which is what I want.
The only problem is it won’t be the flagship. Flagship will be a 6.1” and 6.7” design.
That’s okay though, 5.4” hopefully it’s a mm or two thinner too.
Found two new Pro Tips that I really like.
1. Settings>Itunes & App Stores>In-App Ratigns & Reviews (disable this). This should stop most of those annoying rating requests
2. In Safari, long press the switch tab button, and it will give you an option to close all tabs
