Right and wrong at the same time. There are schools in the CBE that have full time kindegarten programs. They are typically in lower socio-economic neighbourhoods. Primarily because the parents work jobs where it's hard to afford half day care or can get away to do the transfer in the middle of the day. Calgary Catholic cancelled all their full day kindegarten programs back in 2015 I think.

There are fewer and fewer of them all the time. Currently it's these schools for CBE:

Since you mentioned twins, something to keep in mind is sibling discounts... I have friends with kids at Masters (besides those here :love: ) and it seems that siblings are subject to a 50% fee discount... That generous discount, combined with the more modest tuition can completely change the value prop. (Those "friends" are quick to point out that I could enjoy a 4-for-1 discount if I changed schools... fuckers)

Us poors are relegated to FFC (if you didn't put your kid on the list the year they were born, they aren't getting in), and TLC schools. Both are public, just a little better than regular CBE.

If you can get your 3 kids into private for ~$20k per year (and that's financially feasible), it's an absolute no-brainer.

FFC, Future Foundations Charter Academy, is a charter school. They're publicly funded, but operate outside of the CBE and are a poor-mans private school. The waitlist is LONG. Like I said, if you didn't apply when your kid was born, they aren't getting in. They have a "lottery" to get in besides the waitlist, but I've heard from someone who used to work there that it isn't very lottery like.

TLC (Traditional Learning Center) is CBE's best attempt at a private school. Uniforms, daily homework, a little stricter in the class. They operate more like CBE did in the 80's. Easy to get in if you are in their walking zone, and a lottery if you aren't. Not without it's faults, but I'm glad ours is in one VS regular CBE. Our daughters friend transferred to a normal school to make it easier on her parents commuting, and a month later she was back, lol. Her parents learned quickly how shitty the rest of CBE is.

Westmont Charter is another option. Your Kid needs to be Coded to get in.
I believe number of beyonder's kids goes there including our daughter.

Our 3.5 year old was pumped for a pink backpack. Hasn’t taken it off all day, wanted to sleep in it.

1 year old loved the wrapping paper and ribbons and bows, hah.

Got her a first “real” Lego set.

Star Wars young Jedi adventures crimson firehawk.

She likes to keep it beside dads giant imperial star destroyer lol.

My daughter got a Furby, didn't realize those had made a comeback.

My son got a pretend kids phone that allows him to take pictures and loves it. Pictures of everything and when it fills up the memory I'll just delete them all and he can start again.

My son would love something like that

Kids got lots of Lego this year. Always a hit with both, but especially with my son (4).

Daughter (6) got a couple bracelet and necklace making kits, which is right up her alley and she’s been loving them.

My wife’s dad gave them a couple old little walkie talkies he had in a drawer and I think those were the top pick. Not even wrapped or intended to be a “present”, but they’ve been playing with them a lot.

Yea the next big step is going to be some kind of storage and display strategy for the legos

We did get them an Amazon Fire Kids tablet each to stop the fights over the household iPad they've been sharing for the last 3 years lol, also in anticipation of our Scotland trip in 2025 for the plane too

They've used them a bit but the shopping carts with fake groceries have been the girls favourite and some Monster Jam track thing that the boy got from his uncle has been his

Lego is always a hit, especially because she likes building them with me so it's become the traditional "Santa" gift. Shits getting pricey though.
