I wouldn’t call effective bottom 6 players sloppy seconds.

@ 800k, if he can play half the games that's already worth it.
I like this signing.
Leivo is a solid player - if he can be equally effective after knee surgery. He isn't particularly great at anything, but he's also not bad at anything. Good utility player that works hard. Sad to see him go. Benning just couldn't move any dead cap.
But seriously.... 4 players?
Any legit NHL player playing for league minimum is a good deal. Seems like several of these "bottom feeders" have some upside potential as well. Or of they get displaced by the young talent coming from stockton, that's good too.
No way these contracts hurt us.
As for taking the Orcas cast-offs, I like that too, because that organization is poorly managed, so if they don't want em, I do.
Pretty wild stats this year for the goalie the flames drafted at 96oa - Daniil Chechelev

Never said anything to the effect of Leivo not being worth that contract. If he plays like he did before injury, its a total steal for a guy who has his skill and can move up and down the lineup. Benning did mess up by not moving salary out last year. And this year, it was damn near impossible so he just didn't have the cap room. He did sign Hawryluk, who I imagine he wanted due to his untapped offensive potential, but mainly the fact he plays a harder game than Leivo. Ideally, I imagine he would have liked to sign both for depth but 2020 is fucked and it just wasn't possible.
There's inherent risk in taking on term for Tanev and Marky, but Leivo is a no-brainer imo.
Flames reverse retro jersey could be blasty 2.0. Very exciting.
I got some Neal's Peels at Sport Chek for $27 this week.
Strong retro Canucks look since so much of the team are recent Canuck players!
Will be picking up a new blasty fo sho. Honestly love the Ducks and Coyotes jerseys for nostalgia factor.
