Enjoyed the games so far. Nice to have a #1 back there
Very happy with the additions the flames have made thus far.
Markstrom- wow.
Tanev- as advertised
Leivo- plays bigger than I expected, works hard
Simon- still not sure, but seems decent
Valimaki- kid will be a stud for a long time
Losing to Toronto hurts.
I like the look overall, guys who are supposed to be scoring are scoring. Good goaltender is good.
The playing from behind sucks, also if the dump and chase continues then I'll be wanting Ward shot into the sun soon.
I like the more balanced lines.
Thoughts on the Tkachuk episode to end the game last night?
Can't believe I forgot Nesterov!
Yes he has done a great job of replacing what Hamonic would have been.

I thought it was good, this team is playing with 0% emotion right now.
An extended road trip is what this team needs.

Muzzin flicked the puck at Chucky just after the final buzzer, Chucky got angry and slammed all of the things.
so anotehr nothingburger. ;/

If it happened to any other player in the league the entire NHL fan base would be calling for Muzzins head but since it's Tkachuk, then hehe all good.
I have to think this is what it was like for Ducks fans while Corey Perry was in his prime.
Matthews friendship tour continues.
More of the same from this shitbag team ffs.
When is it ok to change teams you cheer for? Asking for a friend
I tuned out...
Yikes the flames have looked terrible since the break.
Vegas bandwagon closed tonight due to covid. Sorry guys.
Well, that was an enjoyable win! Didn't think we'd win that after falling behind by 2.
Really fun game, it is amazing having a top tier goalie that you can rely on in close games. Love to see Johnny looking like a star again and the boys getting back to their come back ways.
The confidence a team has playing in front of a bonafide #1 goalie is immeasurable. It's still early to say, but If Marky continues to play Kipper-esque, I see lot's of success for this team. Having Johnny starting to look like an all star again is nice, too.
Didn't watch the game but watched the dirty dirty shootout winner by Johnny and the equally dirty dirty shootout save by Markstrom.
I know he scored a fluke goal, but much love to Chris Tanev. He has been a revelation and a very calming presence on defense and makes the smart play. So much better than Hamonic. I think two of our best players so far have been the Vancouver rejects (not including Leivo). Good thing Johnny is being Johnny again because Chucky has been subpar thus far.
Campbell commentary makes watching Flame games unbearable.
She was the worst I’ve ever heard last night.
Terrible terrible terrible.
Bring back Leah Hextall
While I'm not a Flames fan I do enjoy watching Edmonton lose, more than I enjoy watching the Canucks win.
Those black jerseys last night were fire.
Yup the Blasty threads looked amazing. That was a big win too
Did you guys see Ritters blasty pads in the post game celebration? Amazing.
Both tendys Blasty pads looked awesome.

luc can hardly make the mean face he's so happy. That's really beautiful to see.
Flames are unbelievably frustrating to watch.
We learned back in Atom hockey that you do NOT lose a puck battle within 5’ on either side of the blue line.
The amount of battles the flames lose in that area is incredible.
Consistently failing to clear the defensive zone, and failing to gain entry in the offensive zone.
Not shocking this team has been as mediocre as they have been this year.
The biggest problem is that the team has no game plan for a tight checking game for the last couple of years. It’s been exposed in our last few playoffs appearances. The team just can’t handle consistent pressure when the opponents limit the chance of passing, and the team just panics and turns the puck over. Gaudreau and Monaghan becomes complete duds. The Canucks have been taking advantage of that to neutralize our offense. We typically don’t see tight checking as much in regular season so the team looks ok.
And zero fight tonight. Van chirping Markstrom and zero response. Chucky silent as well. Lame effort. Hopefully they wake up for the Oilers back to back.
4 out of a possible 8 vs Van is unacceptable!
Waste of a season deciding to roll with Geoff Ward as head coach
The team looks like its give up on eachother...
Not good.
Johnny and Monny would be a good second line on a good team. For a few games it looked like that was the plan here, and the "real top line" had a shot at being a real top line. Turns out they are probably a second line too, or third line some nights.
It hurts.
So when does something happen... anything happen.. to stop whatever the fuck this is?
Don’t worry we’ll keep changing up players who don’t matter and keep the core the same
Holy fuck this is fuckign sad.
Blow it up, rebuild needed.
Only untouchables in my eyes
Lindholm
Mangiapane
Valimaki
Andersson
Everyone else is fair game.
I'm surprised anyone cares at this point.
One upside of covid is I'm not wasting money on going to Flames games and having to see the shit product that this season is
Handy because looch is unmoveable too.
I've said before that Johnny and monny are good players with reasonable contracts, but they can't be a top line. If you need that from them your team isn't very good.
If you can fit them in between a "real top line" and a checking line, then your team is damned good.
The concept is really hard to execute. Especially in a cap system. The flames keep failing at it.
Trading away Johnny and Monny, you aren't likely to get anyone better back. So unless you are trading for picks only and doing a full rebuild, I don't know how it works out for the benefit. It's not like Treliving hasn't been shopping them around for 2 years.
The best teams have great second and third lines. We have that, just no first line.
He's apparently the only guy who can carry the puck. It's a problem. Other teams have figured all that out.
My opinion is, before blowing up the team, we need to try a real coach first. That's really the only thing that hasn't been tried yet with this current core.....a decent coach. There are games where this team has shown it can actually dominate, enough of those games anyways to prove that maybe they just need a coach that can keep them on that level consistently.
it is baffling that the organization seems to cheap out on coaches.
The lack of passion and emotion during the games seems to come from the coach. He is never upset, never seems to show any emotion on the bench. That has to translate to the players. I thought this last year when he was put into the position with the firing of Bill Peters. A new voice is needed.
I don't know in the NHL if the passion and emotion is supposed to come from the coach. Are the top coaches in this league known for that? I guess some are.
last 10 games, we have scored only 1 goal in 7 of them.
People say consistency is our problem, but that is pretty damn consistent
I read CP, but I don't post there. I'm shocked they haven't had a post speculating that there's discontent in the room.
Echoing others here...we’re really happy we didn’t spend money on season tickets this year. The lack of drive is depressing enough on TV...can’t imagine how it’d feel in person. The ice would be littered with jerseys tossed by disgruntled fans!
I'm going to go against the grain here and say that I think Johnny is actually doing really good this year. He seems to be the only one who can carry it in the NZ when the rest of the team has been told to dump and chase. What ever happened to Chucky in the locker room/players only meeting after that Muzzin puck flip needs to be addressed ASAP because he's been pretty absent. The fact that Looch is one of our best players right now is astonishing. Thank god for 88 otherwise we'd be completely fucked.
#FIREWARD
Someone call Bruce asap please.
Lol, I didn't even want to pay the extra $10 a month Shaw wants to charge me to get the Sportsnet package just so I can watch the Flames games (I don't watch any other sports or any other teams other than the Canucks). So far, I've only briefly watched some Saturday night HNIC games, and this is a Saturday at home with nothing else to do.
I don't even consider this a real season to be honest, whoever wins the Cup this year definitely deserves an asterisk...no fans in attendance, way less games to play and only within your division. This is nothing like a real NHL season.
I agree he's one of our best players, and some night, THE best player. We probably get reasonably value from his contract. The problem is when he and monahan are the only offensive threats, the other team has an easy time matching lines and neutralizing them. That doesn't make them bad, it just means the team doesn't have enough weapons in total. The concept of spreading our best players over three lines was a solid idea, but the players either aren't skilled enough, or didn't try enough, or probably both, so it didn't work. Concentrating the best payers on two lines is okay, if both lines play well, which they aren't. I honestly don't love Ward, but not sure yet another coach changes anything. Really don't know what does. It's depressing.
Chucky better be hurt or something. His play makes no sense, and it being a case of hurt feelings would be an awful reflection on him.
Just got an alert. Ward fired. Darryl Sutter head coach lol. What year is this? Haha
I wanted Bruce but I'll take Darryl. That's a real coach
Well I'm expecting to be entertained at least
My alert was from the flames app haha. Crazy how this never leaked.
No way this is Tre doing this
Wow! Can't believe Tre pulled Sutter back in. I've not watched a full game since January, this will change.
Bygawd that's daryl sutter's music
Edit: goddamn stupid all-caps filter. Let me express my emotions.
Darryl almost won the Cup against all odds with Gen X. Won the Cup twice with Millennials. How will Gen Z react?
you knew ward was fucked when he got the vote of confidence from management. And of course Sutter didn't take a single year deal. He knows he probably won't last 3 years, but the paycheques will! If Tre can't pull off some trades, he's out the door in under 12 months too. Guarantee it.
