Not much a coach can do with mediocre players. Thinking Johnny and Mony will take this team to the end of the playoffs is delusional.

The team looks like its give up on eachother...
Not good.
Johnny and Monny would be a good second line on a good team. For a few games it looked like that was the plan here, and the "real top line" had a shot at being a real top line. Turns out they are probably a second line too, or third line some nights.
It hurts.
So when does something happen... anything happen.. to stop whatever the fuck this is?
Don’t worry we’ll keep changing up players who don’t matter and keep the core the same
Holy fuck this is fuckign sad.
Blow it up, rebuild needed.
Only untouchables in my eyes
Lindholm
Mangiapane
Valimaki

Everyone else is fair game.
I'm surprised anyone cares at this point.
One upside of covid is I'm not wasting money on going to Flames games and having to see the shit product that this season is
Handy because looch is unmoveable too.
I've said before that Johnny and monny are good players with reasonable contracts, but they can't be a top line. If you need that from them your team isn't very good.
If you can fit them in between a "real top line" and a checking line, then your team is damned good.
The concept is really hard to execute. Especially in a cap system. The flames keep failing at it.
Trading away Johnny and Monny, you aren't likely to get anyone better back. So unless you are trading for picks only and doing a full rebuild, I don't know how it works out for the benefit. It's not like Treliving hasn't been shopping them around for 2 years.
The best teams have great second and third lines. We have that, just no first line.
He's apparently the only guy who can carry the puck. It's a problem. Other teams have figured all that out.
My opinion is, before blowing up the team, we need to try a real coach first. That's really the only thing that hasn't been tried yet with this current core.....a decent coach. There are games where this team has shown it can actually dominate, enough of those games anyways to prove that maybe they just need a coach that can keep them on that level consistently.
it is baffling that the organization seems to cheap out on coaches.
The lack of passion and emotion during the games seems to come from the coach. He is never upset, never seems to show any emotion on the bench. That has to translate to the players. I thought this last year when he was put into the position with the firing of Bill Peters. A new voice is needed.
