Odds are this kid is looking at a hard life. That kind of intelligence is pretty isolating.
If you want to work in finance, do finance; the econ degree adds nothing. That simple.
Plus the fact that if you go econ only, you lose the business job board, which frankly kicks the crap out...
Post links to the AHS section for the restaurant on yelp, etc. and you can literally watch them regret treating you like that.
Proximity is pretty damning. I know most Indian restaurants aren't...
The Eau Claire one? Yeah, empties out pretty early (everything in Eau Claire is kinda that way).
Do an MBA if you're looking to change fields. Also pick the one at the best school you can get into, its the connections that are important. The schooling is secondary consideration.
How'd you even get the interview? Thats GPA cutoffs are for, after that no one cares.
An accounting degree is gonna be tough if you think 317/323 is hard. I took 341/343 for kicks and they are the lowest grades I got during undergrad (B/B-).
Then again, I'm the biggest slacker...
Hate unions and would never work for one. If you can't have corporate monopoly, unions shouldn't be able to have a monopoly over the labour in an industry.
Cold resume drops on websites never get any attention. I'm not sure how SAP divisions are set up but there are some corporate divisions that will completely ignore what HR has to say and do all the...
Trading lab is up but is currently only open to certain student groups such as CPMT, GIRC, Rotman Trading, etc. This might change in the new school year.
The vast majority of new grads will have to start out with low salaries. Just be thankful school is cheap in Canada.
If all you care about is the money, you should have been top notch in school...
Don't believe everything they tell you. That throwing out 4.0s is total bullshit, they just know that it is an easy thing to say since the vast major of students don't have it and most don't stay at...
I just put down whatever made me look the best (and tell everyone to do the same) without lying about it (ie. raising the decimal point to the ceiling). Using last 10 courses and major GPA are common...
Wait list is useless. I can't tell you how many times I've snapped up classes ahead of people on the wait list.
If I work 70 hours a week it would mean I'm slacking/getting fired soon.
Tons of people drop during the first few days of classes. Hell, I used to register in all of the finance classes and decide what I wanted to take later.
Does anyone know what the prices are at Bow Valley?
Doing investment banking at a Canadian bank this summer. Finishing my 3rd year as a Finance major.
Does anyone know how many econ course I can take as a finance major at the uofc?
I've taken Econ 201, 203, 341 which are all required.
I'm enrolled in 339 this semester and it works out on...
MBA is your best shot if your changing industries, especially if its 2 completely different industries. Its a way to re brand yourself. If you have a bunch of O&G experience you might be able to sell...
CFA is basically irreverent for trading.
If you have no experience in O&G or trading, your best shot is an MBA. Its gonna be a tough sell trying to switch over without knowing someone on the...
Hard to get a job as a rock doctor nowadays.
I would go with the school that can give you the best shot, even if marginally.
Textbook was pretty useless when I took it. All you need is TVM and the notes package.
If your a finance major and think 317 is rough, your gonna have a hell of a time in the sr courses.
True story.
Mixers and networking events only work if you actually get information, act on it, and contact them after wards. Otherwise, don't waste your time.
study less than in high school and am doing better since i can pick my courses.
Is there a document that says the first replacement is $10?
Perfect timing, I just lost my ID card. At least, it'll only cost me $30 instead of $125.
Sounds like you gotta figure out what your looking for first.
Anyone know if the student id gym pass is active during block week course?
Canadian film studies in block week. Just watching movies and write a tiny 500 word blog/review/opinion about them. Take home final essay.
I would not bother with a minor. Doesn't seem to add a lot of value since the UofC doesn't let you minor in anything complementary for a finance/acct major.
I'm majoring in finance and doing a ton...
The big 4 have a point system and a candidates aspects have a maximum amount of points. They like to see some balance.
The difference between Co-op and summer internships at the accounting firms...
Explain what happened and try to overload them.
Some do open when classes start but that isnt guaranteed.
You can check when restrictions are lifted on the restricted courses pdf.
Well, it means you grades are good enough for scholarships but you don't get anything for being on the list itself.
Just makes you feel good. Some people put it on the resume.
Just don't go to China
Good article. I agree to a certain point that what school you go to doesn't have a huge impact on future success. However, going to a top school (whether it be Harvard, LSE, Oxford, etc.) can...
I thought it was the last 10 full courses. I could be wrong though, when transferred into Haskayne for 3rd year I didn't pay much attention to that.
I'm now transferring to another business...
