It sounds to me the 335i wasn't trying. There is not a chance the G35 coupe would even come close to the 335i. My 330ci was a close race with the G35 coupe. Even the new 328 should beat the G35...

Sorry man, you're wrong on the fuel consumption. The 335i has amazing fuel economy. Just a hair worse than my 01-330ci, which was amazing on gas.
