There is ways to avoid a side mount if you want. Can raise tracks and use your regular opener by adding a dummy panel I did this first. Side mounts aren’t hard to install and I did one myself too...

Can be a sign of poor ventilation in attic. In our house they had covered soffits at edge with insulation and that part is needed for air circ along with your vents. A little is normal a lot is not....
