Actually getting the 944 n/a racecar going for a shakedown.
Pair of daily drivers outside while wrenching happens in the garage. Both came out of the same factory 14 years apart.

I do worry about that. You can force the engine on by turning the sport chrono dial to sport or sport+, or by switching the gear lever into manual mode. I think it would be worth burning out the fuel...
Since we picked up our PHEV Cayenne, we've put 1379km on it and still have 488km of range from the original tank of fuel. Our consumption is currently sitting at 1.9L/100km. The actual range on...
The S54 had a bearing issue that was covered by a recall in the early days, but rod bearings are hardly the weakness of this engine.
That's what I did. 10% annual rate of return over my 18 months of ownership. I'm driving my trusty old Touareg now until the market settles down. My next commuter will be electric for sure thanks to...
I'm fine with the idea of discussing these things too, but find a better way! OG Star Trek was always about dealing with current social issues through allegory (explosion of Praxis from Klingon over...
I like slow thoughtful science fiction. OG trek was very formative to me in the 80's because most episodes were about a dilemma or how to solve a problem with creative thinking. Discovery is way too...
I'm watching Picard season 2. It's so bad. You're right about it being a show by people who don't like Star Trek and don't understand why it was so popular in it's heyday. I consider myself pretty...
It's just like changing 4 $5 bills for a $20. Theoretically nothing should change... unless it's Tesla. The market cap of the company shouldn't change unless people take the split to have some kind...
You should give it a try. I set up in my basement put on some terrible action movies and rebuilt a bike replacing most of the parts. It's actually quite a bit of fun especially if you like turning...
Thanks! I ran it in sport+ for a while to get it warmed up. Continuing the break-in with lots of runs up and down the gear box. Feels pretty good getting deeper into the boost and revs. I ended up...

Not sure how you can jump to the conclusion that more privatization is coming from that. She might just be tired of the role too; she's been in it longer than anyone that I can remember.
Well I'm out. Sold the Model 3 SR+ after 18 months of regular commuting for a profit. It was a fun experience and I'm definitely getting another electric once the market calms down a bit. I don't...
When I build an engine myself I do a very hard break-in. But for one with a warranty, I'll follow their recommendations so they don't have an "out".

That actually makes...
Lol. I live my life 20 seconds at a time! (Sport perfomance button gives you 20 seconds of joy before it reverts back to normal).
Also, correct I'm still in the break-in phase so no full boost,...
I had a closer look at the technical specs of the drive and I got the numbers wrong. It seems the combined number is different than just the sum of the two drives. The electric drive is 134hp and the...
I tried to monetize that through my Youtube channel, but it wasn't worth it.
Soon to be for sale Tesla:

Haha I thought this was a Rennlist quote. Those guys think you're crazy to tow with anything less than a Dodge dually. I can't wait to get a picture of the silver Cayenne towing the Silver 944 turbo...

Never for us; always in her crib until she changed to a new room with a double bed. It's just a new found freedom and testing the boundaries of that freedom. It was a tough month or so getting her to...
I've been through this too. We started just after she turned 2 because we needed the crib for the next kid. Just be consistent, we call it "the night of 100 walks". Just keep walking her back to bed....
Around town it has sufficient jam with 120hp, but 184ftlbs of torque. It's regular SUV driving speed no problem up to 120kph, but it is a bit more sluggish picking up the last few kph as wind...
The everyday cars: One filthy Tesla and one very clean Cayenne.

When I traded in the S4 for the Tesla I had to drive to Calgary to get it. I realized that was the furthest away from home I'd ever driven the S4. In a 2 car family one EV makes great sense.
I think the range of the Cayenne with a full tank is 430 miles, so it's a pretty good distance. I'd like a bit more range on electric only, but the battery is already pretty big and heavy.
...
It seems like people are asking 62ish before the price hike yesterday. I think getting a car right now instead of waiting is a big driver of the used price. New is 65,500 after GST and a long wait....
I'm going to try to flip my SR+ once I take delivery of the Cayenne. I think it was a great buy at $47K (CAD) after rebates when it came with more features and the better battery. Now at $61K, a 6...
It's an e-hybrid base, not the Turbo S so it comes with the 3.0L v6 turbo that's in all the VAG products. It makes 335 hp, but also has a 120hp MGU-k. That brings it up to 455 combined with 516 lbft...
My family PHEV arrived this week. Had a look over it today and going to pick it up next weekend.

It was around $14K after grants under the NDP program. I have a thread around here with data in it:...
I think that's a bit conservative for 8 panels in Calgary. I make 8500kwh/year on 20 panels in Edmonton, so that divides down to 3400kwh for 8.
Agreed. They motor can be used as a big resistor for pre-conditioning, but I'm not sure if it can be used like that when driving.
The heatpump is standard for all the new cars. I don't think they are going to be pulling that out as the whole heating/cooling system of the car is designed around it. They're going to have to...
Yes. Since 2009 the retailer is required to buy the electricity back at the same price that they are selling it for... but you don't get to charge back the transmission fees etc. that they get to...
That looks so weird to me! I hope they race it that way, I'm very curious to see how it performs and if they can get enough cooling through it when running in "dirty" air.
Just for a fun internet argument... let's go!
Yoong's worst finish... in a race he finished was 14th. That's the best finish Mazepin ever had. Yoong scored a 7th (out of 8 cars lol), which in the...
Will Mazepin go down as the worst driver ever to complete a full season in F1? He finished 21st out of 20 grid slots with a season high of 14th place.
