If this is your first time, you should be there fairly early (say 8). You won't be setting up course, but your car needs to be emptied and teched, and you will need to get as many course walks in as...
Umm, nothing... As she puts it: this isn't the fifties any more.
In that case, this forum would be a better place for advice (STR setup instead of street classes):

Avoid the Gendron standard bar - if you look at the mounts, they are just bog standard Energy bushings, and I broke one or two of those every year. Karcepts gives you a quality mount that should...
Don't worry about that. My study group was a decade (or two) younger than me, but it didn't matter. This is all about packing in the knowledge, not about age-related interactions. Besides, I was...
Work at forming a group of "study buddies" with fellow classmates. I went back to university in my 30's, and it was a huge shock. My study group(s) helped more than anything else. In math (for...
We bought the RX100 MK4 to take pictures on our cross Canada trip. It is an awesome camera, albeit with some annoyances (menu system from hell). It's low light performance continuously surprises...
I had one instructor (multiple U.S. national championships) that stated it the best for me: "You want your hands in a neutral (10 and 3) position in mid-corner, since that is the place where you need...
The OPAX (short for Open PAX), is a scoring variant to show how well you would have done at a big event where you only get 3 runs for the entire day (e.g. Lincoln).
As for single best run of the...
Well, they don't have any excuse, since they use exactly the same software as we do (mine) :)
I think they also have a router on-site, so you should be able to use your phone to get results as...
VCMC has a ton of good drivers, so coming any place close to the top should make you feel "worthy" :) As for old white guys vs asians, VCMC doesn't seem to follow that "rule" in any way.
Nice...
I don't think you will see another S2000 as cheap as mine for a long time. I priced it low intentionally, since I wanted it to sell quickly. The buyer got a pretty good deal. And would you believe...

I love my S2000 in the winter; awesome heater, limited slip, and it will happily drive through snow deep enough to make the front into a plow :)
I think an NA Miata would be ideal -- not too much...

Change your cabin filter if you haven't done so already.
That is one big bunch of parts you will need. If you want to race in street or street touring, this car isn't for you.
Completely illegal for the street and street touring classes. I think it puts you into Street Prepared (BSP I believe). Not a place where it has any hope of competing.

What were you driving? I enjoyed that day, but the S2K was definitely a handful. On the plus side, I was definitely better in the rain than last year.
Good plan!
Turbo lag and extra torque needs to be handled by the driver -- not always an easy job, especially if the turbo is large and has a lot of lag -- makes it a difficult car to drive in...
I wish. I am running on 3 year old Rivals. First gen tires, as well as old and heat cycled to death. Lots of throttle-on understeer (annoying) and throttle-off oversteer (fun).
You should come for a ride with me to feel how an S2000 handles with a bigger FSB.
I recommend the Karcepts bar -- high quality and a good price.
You will want some adjustable shocks to dial out some of the understeer induced by the FSB. Koni single adjustables are what I use.
Do you have the OEM front swaybar? If so, you are driving an accident waiting to happen. An S2000 with a big swaybar in the front and some adjustable shocks is a completely docile car -- fun to...
That's today. Sunday is looking great, with a high of 10 degrees. I expect a bit of wet ground in the morning, with things drying out and being great for the afternoon. Bring your race tires! ...
That was me, although I was called to task for making conclusions based on minimal evidence :)
I think it's a close thing when the temps get down low. If the next event is below 0 degrees, I'll...

Forecast isn't all that great: http://weather.gc.ca/city/pages/ab-52_metric_e.html
Dress warmly, and dress for wet stuff.
Definitely allowed. My problem with the RE-71R's is that they work much better when cool, so a 2nd driver makes me wish for a water sprayer. I own one, but no room in an S2000 trunk to take it...
Dude, we all suck the big one at this sport when starting. You have no idea how bad I was when I started -- and of course, I thought I could drive. Hah!
Come out to events (not just YYC). Get...
For sure we don't want to scare him off. I just used his car as an example, not anything personal or vindictive.
His times show that he can drive well, so he should come out more often and get...
It's easiest for people like that to just class themselves in EM, which basically is any car that still has doors and windows.
The classing rules are complex, but it really is easy to ask on a...
Or a 2015 M3 with a wing in BS :)
It's still a good idea for people to class their car correctly, even at fun-only events. That way, there isn't any problem when attending a championship event.
There were many cars mis-classed at Sunday's event, so here is a pointer to the rules: http://www.scca.com/pages/solo-cars-and-rules
If reading the rules is too confusing, anyone on the SASC forum...
LOL -- you have to drive my AP1 some time -- that will let you know what "no torque" really means :)
That sucks. That "jump" Wasn't as bad as the bumps/postholes that encounter on my drive home -- was there somthing especially bad there for your car?
The local YYC events are very nice, but to be honest, they aren't youer best bang for the buck. Westerner or Fort Macleod events are where you get your money's worth -- amazing number of runs and...
