All of Chili's Alberta locations, aside from YYC and YEG are closing. The Canadian menu at Chili's sucked, so can anyone be surprised??

Also, the Boston Pizza on 16th is closing as the area was sold to construct a new student apartment building, nothing recession related.
    IS Chili's better elsewhere?

Someone should take that sears location in North Hill and turn it into one of those Drone racetracks, or a indoor VR gaming place where you run around in a big warehouse and shoot people (FPS style game). Probably the rent on a building that size in north hill would be prohibitive though.

I think it will do just fine. I live in Sandstone and frequent deerfoot city 3-4 times a week and it is busy as fuck, always.
This is the same forum that had people saying that Crossiron wouldn't last because it was too far out of town haha.

I agree with you, that area is always busy and the development isn't even complete yet.

Yep! Deerfoot city looks to be unique enough for people down south to make the drive and its not even that bad when you think about it.

Yeah if the business can thrive without high alcohol sales then I think it can do fine. Its the "night out" destination I have my doubts about.

I'll definitely be checking it out though. Sooner than later.

We should start a new post about recession recovery start ups.

Theres a pyle of fast food like chicken, pita, carls opening everywhere and at least 3 new performance shops opened this year alone, lots of nrw commercial type stuff.

    What have you seen.

I frequent the OJ at DF City a lot. I like what they have done with the area.

Looks like a Popeyes chicken is going into the new plaza at the corner of McKnight and Aviation Blvd/12 street ne. Same side as the plaza with the Starbucks and McDonald's.

As for Chili's their food freaking sucks. I hope someone turns a few of the locations into a TGIFridays

I think I read somewhere that north hill mall was getting redeveloped into condos...

By Concord. But that was when Sears just sold the parking lot and expected to keep store going. Now if Sears is liquidating and selling the whole mall, who knows if Concord will pick up the rest expand the scope.

Makes a perfect candidate for another TRD (transit oriented development). Retail all over US and Canada is in the gutter. Rumors of the flagship Sak's 5th ave in NYC being turned into multi-use including luxury condos.

Malls are done. A lot of them are now turning into "community spaces". Northland Village's redevelopment is now on hold. Mall is 1/2 empty and slowly seeing each store replaced with service based companies (tutoring/nails/tax returns etc)

North Hill got potential tho. Being close to downtown and between 2 major post secondary institutes and on the LRT line.

And the Fat Burger FINALLY opened after almost 3 years of "Opening Soon" posters.

Top tier malls will always be around. Not everybody wants to sit on their ass while Amazon delivers toilet paper to your door. Will probably push more foot traffic to the premier malls.

The concept of spending several hours a week travelling to and wandering around a mall seems so antiquated. Don't people have hobbies or leisure activities they would prefer?

you like to post on the internet, people like to shop at malls. To each their own.

Sears still owns the building that they are in... don't believe they own the mall. Definitely a great area to develop into more condos... that's a massive parking lot on that side. Lots of malls are turning into multi-use facilities. It's the only way the smaller malls will survive.

Haven't been IN Deerfoot City in a while. I know a few times around 3-4 pm trying to get out of or thru the parking area is hectic! Parking has become tight at least in the front near the McDonald and the Goodlife.

I quite enjoying going to the mall with the family when the mall is not too busy. You get what you need, and sometimes what you want. It's enjoyable to provide for your family. :-)

I think sears should just close it's doors as is, leave everything inside and turn into a paintball/airsoft company.
With leftover employees as live targets? That could fire back?
    Will fuck off, again.
