I should be on tonight. What time are you riding? Let's do a race!

Nice work on the FTP test Brent! They're pretty awful to do. How was your pacing?
Seemed pretty steady other then the couple pushes that kicked my ass. the last minute destroyed me.

Seems like i may be exchanging my trainer. It's doing this:
    https://youtu.be/ujVjvxe-7iQ
to the point when i rode it at 6 am this morning i was worried i was gonna wake the wife. Luckily it quieted out

which may mean I'm getting this thing instead now it's on sale.

Apparently it's a bearing issue with the tacx, and they won't send replacement parts out of Europe

ya figured it kind of works out in the end.

Was impressed by Erg mode this morning (tho the tacx is a bit off, asking for 100 w and it sticks me at 120). That's a pretty cool setting for training

Hmm - there's only a race at 6:15 (too early) and one at 10:05 (too late), unless you want to do the Time Trial Tuesdays or ZHR Masters (won't be included in the results unless you provide proof of age as it's by age category).
ZHR Masters is at 8 and is 2x Greater London Loop (https://zwiftinsider.com/greater-london-loop/) which means 2x box hill. That's going to hurt at race pace.

how about the WBR 4 lap flat at 1920? I'm going off the schedule on the zwift mobile app, I'm assuming that the time zone is adjusted.

That works for me - not sure what was up with the schedule not showing it earlier. Be aware of the one climb in it - people with hold ~7w/kg as soon as it ramps up.

Yeah did that 4 lap race almost a month ago. The A group was gone right off the start. It was just me and two other guys riding together. We kept a pretty good distance ahead of another group. I was empty at the end for sure, might as well be FTP test. Relatively flat course where absolute power has advantage, that's the excuse that I'm going with anyway lol.

Oh wait, it's London. Which climb are you talking about? the one leading to that busy intersection?

Looks like I was not the one to get that elite trainer... dangit. Guess I’ll keep looking at MEC ones but keep playing with the one I have now

Oh man, my lungs were destroyed. I’m not sure if I could hang on for the entire race if I was with the lead group. Some guy was chasing me pushing 10w/kg at the end. I might have beaten him by a nose hair.

Good thing I didn't check the forum until now... would have felt pressure to join this "Group ride". But then again, I'm not in A. I'm just barely B, but I can't even keep up with the C group.

When I tried to do the FTP test the amount of resistance from the kickr didn't feel right. I calibrated it both in zwift and the wahoo app. When I'm on flats it feels like I'm pedalling into no resistance then it catches every revolution even in my highest gear. Any elevation and it works well though.

I'll keep messing with it and try an FTP, I just found it really hard to regulate at 60-125w.

Also my ass hurts cause I forgot I hadn't ridden in so long and forgot my chamois yesterday haha

Edit: I also turned the trainer difficulty up in zwift.

I'm not on a smart trainer but I think you'd want ERG mode turned off for the FTP test.

It doesn't sound right. The warm up should be in erg mode and the wattage will be set based on your current FTP. The virtual gradient should have no effect what so ever. Once the FTP session starts, it should switch to resistance mode. Again, the virtual gradient should have no effect. It's all done automatically with the kickr. The only tricky part is setting your current FTP if you have no prior result. You should have a pretty good idea of your power level at which you can hold for a long time.

Did you change the default ftp? I think it's super low.

If i remember correctly it changed the FTP itself when I first started I think. I'll look into what it is Thursday and report back, have a concert tomorrow night.
