It shows how much effort and buying into a system matters.

Someone explain this to me.... the Vegas players are skating at 100% literally all the time, how does their coaching staff motivate them or are they self motivated to care that much? And if the answer was so easy why are other teams not playing like that? Its really odd just how fast they play and how hard their players are skating every second of their shifts.

You see them play and wonder why other teams can't play a similar style game of skating hard and pressuring the other team all the time. They have some skilled players but they also have a bunch of waiver wire plugs.

It weird watching their games.... they make it look so easy haha.
If you watch closely, they're not actually fast skaters, it's not like they have 5 McDavids on the ice at the same time. They're coached to make fast decisions, and they're all in sync on these decisions, being at the right place at the right time and everyone has great situation awareness. When they create a turnover, everyone's already committed and moving forward to make best use of the opportunity. When it doesn't work out, their solid goaltending between Fleury and Subban saves the day. They're relentless on the forecheck, regardless if they're pushing offensively, or shutting down the opposition defensively. You invest more in trying to create opportunities, you're going to end up with more opportunities.

It's a really fun system to watch. Flames during the comeback kids year under Hartley was the same thing, only thing missing was Knights level of goaltending for us that year. VGK this year really reminds me of that Flames year where we weren't really an amazing team, but was so fun to watch even if we lost.

Agreed, Vegas is playing by committee. Their coaching deserves some accolades this year and it's interesting to see a reminder that you don't need a roster of superstars to win, you need a roster of team players.

Its called a team sport for a reason. Sure its great to have some superstars, but I would rather have a team of hard working mid skill guys that buy in vs a team with s few superstars and passengers.

Hell, look at the Flames in their 04 cup run. We had 1 star in Iginla, amazing goaltending and and the rest of the team that worked their ass off every game.

Good thing I put $100 on them winning it all before the season started. Will be enough to pay for hookers, blow, and Kobe steaks!

I don't know if anyone has paid attention to the Avs Preds series, but man has it been electric. It was supposed to be the most lopsided series but it has been an absolute battle.

Also, props to Vegas. Feel bad for Quick though, he set a record for best save % in a losing effort series sweep.

Yeah, there's been a lot of rough stuff that series.
